Two of the world’s best defensive players, Chen Weixing and Latin American Champion Liu Song rely on the new long pimples rubber OCTOPUS, which has been developed in conjunction with these two defensive artists.
With OCTUPUS you can play extreme chop shots and also add variation by taking the ball early at the table. An extra hard sponge provides extremely awkward effects for your opponent.
Strategy: DEF - / DEF extreme

Reviews of JOOLA Octopus (12)
The users have rated this rubber's spin rating as 7.3...!?
Seems a bit overzealous, especially for a long pip. I will grant that this rubber is fairly spinny for an LP, though compared to other pips it is nowhere close to their spin levels! 802-40 is rated at a 7.6 spin according to reviewers on this website...
That is tremendously more spinny than the octopus! Not even a shred of comparison there. Octopus is rated perhaps at a 4/10 for spin when set next to other pips. For those that like to play a close to the table blocking game, relying on reversal, this isn't the best rubber for you. It does grip the ball quite a bit in contrast to something like a Grass D.techs OX sheet. It can block, as it is fairly slow overall. But I'd suggest a chopping or even a hitting game with this rubber, before recommending it as a chop-block specialist.
How someone can say this has "good" reversal seems quite ridiculous! All one has to do is put on a sheet of d.techs, hallmark phoenix, or even a yinhe neptune and see that the octopus' reversal is comically low! Even Liu Song (who they claim helped develop this) was using Bomb Talent OX for his pips.
its not similar to p1r (as many ppll says)
its faster, feels harder, less sensitive to spin than p1r
more reversal, easier to hit than p1r
produces less backspin vs topspin than p1r
not worth a price, there are better and cheaper
This pimples are owesome. Very good reversal spin and fantastic control. You can use it both close and far from the table.
this is rubber for modern defensive player. i recommend that you use this with tacky rubber with a lot of spin in the forehand because when you do a chop with fh and then with bh your opponent believes that the chop is with a lot of spin and then he cuts the ball very tall, and you smash. this is very good also with short distance beacuse your opponent doesn't see that the ball gives spin or not with this long pimples rubber and you smash too. i say this because my opponent has it and then i try the rubber and i think that this is very good rubber for defence with chops and backspins.
for me the perfect was hallmark original(no in the list)for these rubber i will give the 10 stars up.
for me these rubber i cand used it in my forehandor or backhand i think its ok velocity 60 spin 20
Perfect rubber, only problem is returning serves, spin has too much impact on pips.
This is great for attacking underspin balls with a closed angle. It's also great for chop blocks
one of the best long pips that Joola ever produced so far. Spin reversal is very good. chop, push, block is very easy with the octopuz. I recommend using this with 0.5 sponge in order for you to attack at will. very good value for money.. ^_^
