Butterfly Zyre-03 Detailed Review
Redefine the Shape of Strength
• Developed with a low-profile, high-density pimple structure
• Composed of “Ricosheet” - a top sheet with dense, low pimples, and an extremely thick sponge
• A top sheet compound with strengthened resistance to abrasion
• Excellent feeling of holding the ball
• Recommended for players who wish to dominate rallies with powerful, spin-heavy shots
Developed from an unprecedented perspective, with a low-profile, high-density pimple structure. The result of this bold innovation - spin like never before.
Lifting the trajectory higher, driving it deeper, elevating the quality of both finishing shots and rally control. Shots transform, new tactics emerge, the path of growth expands.
This is where strength takes a new shape.
The Zyre rubber is composed of “Ricosheet”, a top sheet with dense, low pimples, and an extremely thick sponge. In addition to this distinctive structure, this rubber has a top sheet compound with strengthened resistance to abrasion, an excellent feeling of holding the ball, and a harder Spring Sponge X. Adopting pimple code No. 303 which draws out power with spin, Zyre-03 enables shots that penetrate deep into the opponent’s side of the table with a dramatic arced trajectory. This is recommended for players who wish to dominate rallies with powerful, spin-heavy shots.
Surface: High Tension pimples-in [Spring Sponge X, Ricosheet]

I have tested the 2.5mm Zyre 03 with the Nittaku Fastarc G1 (2mm) as I have this as my FH rubber to compare - my findings (feeling) with complete forehand loops and forehand drive strokes, Nittaku G1 offers noticeably more in terms of spin, arc, power due to its better and grippier topsheet - and it still plays very very similar to the Zyre 03. Both excels in the close to mid distance and are both lightweight.
Cut Weight:
2.5mm Zyre 03 = 45G
2.0mm Super thick Nittaku G1 = 46G
Of course I am using the 2.5mm version, not the 2.7mm. But I firmly believe the MAX thickness size Nittaku G1 would play better than 2.7mm Zyre 03 in topspin to topspin rallies ect and do what the Zyre 03 is capable of.
This is an honest review and made this review only using full strokes and techniques. Do not fall for marketing tactics that aim to make it seem like this is the best rubber out there - as there are better comparable/similar products.
This rubber is designed for top level game as it is changing drastically with players playing faster, stronger Back Hands and closer to table - without proper technique and power this rubber is honestly 8.6/10.
I've been playing with Zyre03 (2.7mm) for around 6 months now (on a XIOM AJH TMXi Pro blade), and it's definitely the best FH rubber I've ever had in my lifemaybe because it fits my playing style pretty well. It's very forgiving in forehand top spins; it also has a very satisfying balance between speed and spin. In terms of opening attacks on my FH, Zyre03 does a pretty good job and gives you the confidence you need to start the attack, especially against downspin (although not as safe and spinny as 09C).
Compared to 09C, Zyre03 is way easier to get used to (for my level); playing with it feels so natural, and top spins are honestly effortless (it's still different from the Tenergy family, so expect a couple weeks for the learning curve if it's the case for you). Zyre03 also does a pretty good job in flat hits and smashes (of course, not as good as the Tenergy family), while flat hits with 09C are a real pain.
I also feel like serving and receiving were a little better with 09C, as the ball stays on the rubber surface a little longer and gives you a little more time to generate more spin. My reverse serves have always been my strength, but I can clearly see that my reverse serves with Zyre03 are not as good as with 09C.
I cannot comment on flicks and counters, as I do not use them a lot in my game. Blocking with Zyre03 feels very good, though (I'd say it's easier than 09C).
Zyre03 is definitely at least two times more durable than Tenergy 05, and maybe 15-25% more durable than 09C. I use Tibhar MX-P on my BH, and it isn't even half as durable as Zyre03. I play 58 hours a week, and after 6 months, the quality is dropping.
Lastly, this rubber is on the heavier side, not the heaviest though (67g uncut for 2.5mm), so it's something to keep in mind if you're matching this with a heavy blade.
What I liked most was how dangerous it felt on active topspin shots. Opening loops against backspin were very strong, and counterlooping against heavy topspin felt especially solid. From mid-distance, the ball carries deep with plenty of kick, and full attacking shots on both forehand and backhand feel very powerful and crisp.
The main drawback for me was the short game. Because its quite bouncy and sensitive to incoming spin, passive blocks, touch shots, and short pushes took more effort to control. If my racket angle wasnt right, the ball could easily go long.
In terms of feel, it comes across as hard, firm, and crisp, with clear feedback on attacking shots. I think it works best with an inner carbon or all-wood blade to keep the setup more manageable.
Overall, Id say Zyre 03 is a great option for advanced offensive players who want maximum spin, arc, and power, but its definitely not the easiest rubber to control.
