FAQ: Does Megaspin sell Japan-made Butterfly blades?

Some Butterfly blades like Korbel and Grubba are produced in factories both in Europe and in Japan, so they exist in 2 variants. When a Japanese blade has a Europe-made version, we always carry the Japanese variant. Other blades like Butterfly Timo Boll Offensive are only made in China so we cannot carry a Japanese variant of these blades.

I have used Timo Boll ZLC blade for about 1 year. I have found that Tenergy 05 2.1 on both sides is a rocket on this blade. I recommend using thinner sponge. The blade is a little stiff and hard: the materials are Koto outer, ZLC 2nd, Limba 3rd and Ayous core. This blade is between 89 and 91 grams depending on humidity. It is very direct when blocking or smashing. The top gear is very fast even with slower Nittaku Hurricane Pro 3 Turbo 1.6 and Spin Art 1.9 rubber. The low gear is not a problem with tacky rubbers, but non-tacky rubbers can bounce off too quickly. Every time I think I am good enough for a faster blade I play with this and then switch back to my trusted Timo Boll ZLF.

Superb blade for medium hard rubbers. Ratings here are spot on. Definetly on the harder side, and a bit on the stiffer side. Still great for looping and excellent for blocking. Short game is a breeze. Control is very good for such a fast blade.
If you have developed technique, and are looking for something faster without compromising control, this is it.

Compared to Timo Boll ZLF, ZLC feels harder and faster so you can play farther from the table easier. There is almost no vibration in the racket. With Tenergy 05 both ZLF and ZLC can produce insane spin and speed, but smashing is easier with ZLC because it's faster.
Plies: koto 0.5mm - zlc 0.25mm - limba 0.5mm - ayous 3.0mm.
Dimensions: 157x150x5.5mm.
Weight: 85-91g.

Precise, fast enough. TBZLC weight light, more feeling and accurate ball placement when smashing, feel easy to smash and looping with speed. This blade has hard feel when slow hit but elastic enough when hit hard for looping. FH pair with hard rubber like t05 best for topspin to topspin attack. FH pair with soft rubber like t64 best for control, lifting or smashing underspin ball. BH just good pair with soft rubber. Need a proper training to get full potential of this blade, if not it will be just a waste of money because of the price. I compare the TB ZLC with Viscaria. Rubbers used on both frames Tenergy 05 max bh and fh. My playing style is to dominate/attack. I have never seen a comparison between those two frames on the internet so I hope I can make your decision easier when you have to choose between those frames. Of course this is all subjective. I played 1 year with Viscaria and I knew there was something missing but what? Then I changed to TB ZLC and immediately I knew what was wrong with Viscaria. Control!!! The control is back, incoming topspin and then blocking with Viscaria was tricky. With TB ZLC no problem. Block in any direction you want. (and the ball is not going over the table). Control with smashing or defending away from the table is fun again. Place the ball where you want the ball to be placed. This is an enormous improvement if you compare this with Viscaria. i also like the lower throw of the TB ZLC (with topspin) and there is more feeling with looping. What I also like about the ZLC is the vibration of your frame when you return an incoming smash or blocking a huge topsin. It feels right! If you are a beginner don't waste your money on this.

Last week a friend of mine played a while with my blade, the TB-ZLC (ST). He didnt like it too much. He said: "I recognize its potential, but I dont like the feel, it feels a bit numb." I told him that this blade is like beer, maybe the first time it doesnt taste that good, but if you drink it a couple of times, it will taste better and better :). In short: this is an excellent blade, very fast when you attack and lots of control in the short game and blocking. The Zylon Carbon accounts for high stability and also a great catapult effect, with still a decent dwell time. A great blade for close to the table and mid distance attackers.

A very good blade with alot of control. This blade can go slow or fast depend on your swing. This is a top spin monster. My consistency improved so much. A bit pricey for a blade but worth every penny.

Very good blade, and nice into design, hard and good stiff between blades, and it is faster for me but I applied nice combination rubbers with above control and low speed. I LIKE IT

I am a good intermediate level player that can loop on both sides. I was using a JOOLA carbon blade with 4-you rubber and was ready to upgrade. I put Tenergy 05 and 05 FX on the TB-ZLC. Immediately my smash and block got better, but I had a hard time keeping the ball on the table. I used it for 2 months without much improvement. My backhand loop and pushes were worse. The bottom line for me is the ZLC has less margin for error and less gears (I don't think it's a technique issue). My confidence waned. I switched to a Stiga Rosewood with the same 05 rubber and no one will ever get that paddle out of my hands. I have way more feel with it. It has more gears. I can loop backspin much easier. The power is still there, but with way more control. I would only recommend the TBZLC to advanced players who have the practice time or skill to give up margin of error, and want the fasted beast they can get. I've since read not many top level players are using this ZLC technology, and based on my experience it doesn't surprise me, but I'm not an advanced player.

I think this a fast blade but with control in mind. If you want to attack with speed but not lose your control, this is the right blade for you. If you want heavy topspin, personally, I don't this is the right blade for you.

Guys. I am thinking of buying a new blade. Been researching for 3months for the perfect combination. Right now, My choice is Timo Boll ZLC + Bryce Speed FX( Black )+ Tenergy 64( Red ). AND Timo Boll T5000 with the same rubbers. I like to loop very far away from the table. A well controlled spinny backhand. Super spinny serves, I want a racket that will suit my Style and will give me SPEED + CONTROL. I really have my eyes on this one. So guys, Pls help me pick a blade
