Reviews of Donic Original True Carbon (15)

It's comparisons to Butterfly's Viscaria make sense in that the feeling of control in every aspect of the game is similar, but that's it. The blade (I was using J&H C55 rubber on both sides) feels balanced without being head or handle-heavy. It's also crisp; blocks and flat hits well. It is OFF- to OFF speedwise and is controlled in all aspects of gameplay. It plays stiff and dwell time is limited, so your technique should be solid, especially in opening loops. That said, the blade rewards aggression with control and accuracy; you can trust a committed stroke to land anywhere on the table.

It’s a fact that it’s not faster than the Andro Treiber FO. What Donic achieved is an outerforce blade that is very fast and much lighter than the Treiber. This racket is a dream for any flat hitter, and in my opinion you have a super fast, lightweight, and controllable blade. Highly underrated in the market, made in China, not in Germany.

I play frequently with both this Donic and the Viscaria. They are VERY similar and I actually like the Donic better. The germans just did this one right. psychologically speaking I see people have this loyalty to viscaria. attachment to the brand. and the price they paid. This clouds their judgement. But I have strictly played both blades only and with same rubbers over time because I simply couldn't make up my mind which one I liked the best. But because the Donic is much cheaper I wish to give the win to Donic. now that I think about it I actually remember the Donic is easier to match up with very different rubbers where the viscaria just didnt fully "click" with some of them for some reason. Subtle feel difference. All the rubbers loved the Donic blade.
