Reviews of Victas VJ>07 Stiff (4)

Blade-TSP Swat carbon with VJ-07 stiff and Regalus Blue (both max). Bought the Victas VJ-07 stiff on the strength of a few good reviews, especially Konjecture's (thanks Zane), in which he thought that it would suit a player who played "close, spinny and aggressive", which is how I like to play. I decided to put softer rubbers on the blade as it has heat treated (burned) limba outer plies, and is a bit harder than untreated limba. I have to agree with most of Konjecture's observations, except I think the rubber is also really good for receiving, due to the spin insensitivity, soft sponge, and the excellent grip the topsheet has. This rubber allows me to flick or push heavy backspin serves. which for me are the benchmarks of a good receiving rubber. As a close to table player I tend to take the ball early, and the rubber compliments quick and/or wristy mini loop/loop drives/counters.Don't think this rubber would be that good at distance or for topspin to topspin rallies. Feels softer than the stated 45* hardness, I would put it in the same category with Vega Europe, Grip/Powergrip SFX, FX-P, Rakza 7 soft, (etc), but I think the VJ-07 is one of the best softer rubbers I have tried. Not too expensive either!

Average looping rubber. Average receiving rubber. Great service rubber, great blocking rubber - can counter any topspin, kill it and add you own, very insensitive to other spin. Had on carbon viscaria style blade, (meh), all wood Stiga Eternity - works wonders. Great click. Definitely not 45* on Euro Scale. Softer towards 40-43 degrees euro scale. Would be a great teaching and learning rubber or those who like to play close and spinny and aggressive.
