I've been using flextra rubber on both sides for 18 months, This rubber took me from a 'beginner' to an 'intermediate' player! The spin is amazing.By the way, Flextra has an excellent rating for speed & spin compared to other rubbers in the same price.

*It's great for chopping!
*It lasts for a long time.
*If you are a beginner looking for an affordable rubber... Get this one... It has great control but not too fast.
*To sum up, You should combine this rubber with a fast blade to compensate the lack of speed!

My Flextra came with a Butterfly Dao premade racket. This is a traditional penhold racket. Eventually I put a DHS Hurricane 3 Neo on the black side and used the Flextra as the BH rubber to learn the RPB. After about 3 or 4 months, my RPB has gotten pretty consistent.

This is a very slow rubber, but can produce enough spin and has good control. This makes the rubber good for learning your technique. It's slow for FH attacks though.

Physical:

Typical Butterfly packing with paper protection over rubber. Not classy like Xiom but ok. Rubber has soft sponge which is light orange and pink in color, relatively porous. Overall rubber has a very light and grippy feel to it.

Spin and speed:

Well ok no much to be honest here. This rubber, in my opinion, is made for recreational player or very beginner in TT. As far as I know it goes with some Butterfly premade paddles. Dont get me wrong please you can still play with this rubber but for example I would consider Palio CJ 8000 much more serious rubber then Flextra. There is some spin and speed still. Grip on the top sheet is very good.

Who should use this:

If you want to get your kid into TT then you can put this on his or hers paddle, if you play once per month you can put it on your paddle I think you get the picture here.

Have fun and enjoy TT.

This rubber is absolutely useless, and any beginner will be better of looking elsewhere in my opinion.. I bought this as my first rubber, and it did not help me develop my technique at all, even though I was playing decent strokes, this rubber failed me. 2 months later I switched to another one, and my game took like 3 leaps forward.. For goodness sake don't buy this rubber.

Previously used it on both side on Stiga Rosewood NTC VII penhold blade. Bad for forehand and ok backhand rpb.
For forehand, totally lack speed but spin is ok.
For backhand rpb, speed and spin is ok.
The only really good thing about this rubber is it light weight.

yeah, so i bought this rubber with high expectations to have my strokes powerfull but with finesse. The finesse is definetely there and i have pulled off some epic crazy shots with it too. But i feel that the power of the attack is solely dependent on the user. THIS IS A SPIN/CONTROL rubber. If you're a power hungry guy like me you might not like it...but switching to control obviously has its advantages..but to pull off a strong loop to finish the point, its all you. All muscle and speed in your arm

It's like the tackiness chop but faster, higher throw, stil on the low-med. side, and it's spinny too. Its got a nice soft sponge, which imo, slows the ball down and is easy to control. I don't know enough about inverted rubbers so I'll give this an 8.0 but I like the tack-c better just because it's even more defensive/slower/controllable but both are good quality. The chinese rubbers are faster and feel different. The flextra also is all-around esp. since I have it 1.9 so good for all strokes.

Yes the sponge is soft and yes it is great for beginners but this rubber gets the prize for cost vs performance every time. Durable and spinny chops, serves, and loops with accuracy. Can take you from passive to aggresive so a great allround rubber. I find it has a bit more spin than Sriver, especially when pushing over the table. Great for beginners, control freaks or players on a budget.

Great for Beginners. This was my first rubber, on a Butterfly pre-assembly package. Great for learning the basics because it offers alot of control and forgiveness. Not very fast or spinny, but an experienced player with a developed loop can place the ball anywhere on the table with deceptive loop patterns.

Good controlled rubber. Slow speed and not much spin generation makes it well suited as a rubber to work on technique before going more offensive

As part of my first pre-made setup with BTY Primorac Off- this worked well back in 2006. Paired with the Primorac Off- blade this rubber had great control. Spin was acceptable, but speed is in line with the ratings - very slow. It's great if you're looking for something that's low-ish throw, light, some spin (potentially with thin sponge) and can be used fairly defensively. As per existing ratings/reviews it IS "basic", "for beginners" and "new players". Alternatively, it would suit someone looking for a (middle of the road) cheap and defensive/AR Butterfly rubber. I also agree with kiantat's comments that it could work well as a slow RPB due to it's softness/lightness.

Good for developing players (beginners / intermediate) wears out quite easily but not for speed or spin. Very good control, short game, blocking and flat hitting. Suited for all-round players.

yuki with 2 flextras was my beginner blade. excellent for learning, as it's basically a toned down all around rubber, but everything works - the more you know the more you can squeeze out of it. However, unless you know you need control over speed and spin, i would stick to other rubbers.

if you are a beginner with a moderate level and ready to advance for the next stage, ditch this rubber!

no matter how hard you try, this rubber cant match with faster and high speed strokes or gameplay!

i regret i stick to this rubber for so long!

Im advanced but casual player now. Used Flextra to defeat many good players because of its control. Could adjust the spin and speed easily. I prefer an all-round racket and could drop back and chop with little effort. My opponents were confused to see the occasional loop. Also played against a Flextra user who was more aggresive than me. Incoming balls seemed loaded with a strange arc.

A good allround rubber. Very forgiving to a beginner learning strokes. An advanced player I know uses it on FH producing very well placed and controlled loops. Smashes are wicked. It is a bit slow but great on control and it blocks and chops well -so great on defense. Works particularly well in looping underspins, makes for unbelievable loop spin kills (a bit slow). Works better on an OFF type blade. Only thing I had against Flextra is its durability, it is very fragile so it is one of those rubbers that you should take extra care. You bumb it against the table top and you will readily see marks. Easily damaged. Otherwise it is a good rubber.

i have been using the yuki bat (flextra rubber on both sides) for some time now (though i have recently changed) and must say its quite alright. Its really an alround rubber so perfect for beginners and intermidiate players. You can both smash with it and put a decent amount of spin on the ball. I recently changed to hurricane two with the shark 686 bat because i wanted a little more umph. i keep my yuki as a practise bat and a secondary in case my brother or my bat breaks. I would recommend this bat to people who like abit of speed and spin while keeping the ball in control. I wouldn't recommend it to people who like to smash it alot or people who love spinning the ball.

I got this as my first real rubber. and its pretty good i would say, If you play defense then ya this is great for you since it has awesome control and lots of spin with chops. but if your a looper like how i play then its not that great because the ball tends to go off the table, I will close my bat alot and still goes off, and have tried other rubbers this does not happen( at least not nearly as much), but the one offensive thing i like about it is smashes, with go with amazing speed, which my opponents have a hard time getting. but overall great for ball placement, defense players, not the best choice for offensive players. if your a offensive player and want to get nice spinny loops, but not to fast. the gambler reflectoid is a great choice, it is a slower rubber but is great for looping..

I'm using this rubber at BH. It's very good. I don't know why people say is only for begginers. Flextra is dangerous in some chops because the ball could have spiny or goes without effect. Some times your oponents don't see the diference.
Long live to Flextra!

Good for controlled underspin balls, very easy to block and hitting. Cheap and best quality rubber. Enough spin for topspin and slow rubber. I try this with a fast blade and its quite good

I like this rubber a lot.

I tried 1.7 thickness on
Matsusheta Pro blade.

Chops and Loops are spinny and easy to control.
Only problem is speed is low so the ball will probably comeback.

Great for beginners.
Very light rubber and great control.

What can I say about the Flextra. The rubber that started it all for me, the one that I used for learning the basics of the game. Great for beginners, good for spin play but excellent for learning how to lift up heavy chops. I owe much of my development as a "player" to Flextra.

Flextra is a really controllable rubber with very good spin level. One of the poster mention the spin level is higher than sriver, and I completely agree. When this is use by a chopper, it really shines. Great price as well! (Tackiness chop/drive are all 30% more expensive than this) Overall very good for defensive player.

This is one of the cheapest rubbers in Butterfly. Personally, I feel that this rubbers is for beginners trying to learn strokes of all kind. The control is good. Once the beginners grow out of the initial stage, this rubber would be quite useless to them. I also think that this rubber is not nearly as fast as the better rubbers such as Bryce. So maybe Butterfly made it to be defensive or an all round rubber. Because of the control , this rubber can also be a chopper. I do not think any offensive or all round+ players would use this rubber as it is more slanted to the defensive side due to the control compared to the speed.

The butterfly flextra is a rubber which can be used by beginning players to allround players.
It has very good control but is not fast at all and misses the punch needed to finish of a shot, spin is ok but not very impressive, Blocking how ever can be done very good with the flextra. For a beginner rubber and that is what butterfly calls it , it is a very good rubber because of the great control and the low price but once you get better this is not the right choise.

I think the problem with my Flextra is the blade,a cheap 5 ply Butterfly blade once called Yuki An. Mine are 1.7 and be sure every hit of your play goes on the table. You can shot precision hits and be sure at higher thickness you'll have a rubber you can play with at every level. The only problem it's quite smooth, and if you shoot lightly against cut shots lots of balls will get in the net. But tried it and Sriver I prefer Flextra for its lightness and despite it's untacky you can generate a good spin with it even with the new balls. It's cheap and quite durable

Does not have enough spin (serves drives and loops) to be an effective FH rubber for intermediate level players. The soft sponge and medium throw make it a really good BH rubber. Great rubber for consistent flat hitting. Decent for looping. It is slow and has very good control, just like the manufacturer description.

When I say it doesn't have enough spin, I am comparing it to Tenergy 05 and H3 Neo.

The cut weight was 36g for the 1.9mm sponge version.
