Rubber replacement saga continues (5)

You are right, the shellac was fine. The problem turned out to be the glue. I purchased Basic Chack and Clean Chack (from this site). The Basic Chack appears to be past its prime. It was very stringy and had virtually no adhesion. The tube of Clean Chack was liquid, without stringiness and adhered perfectly the first time. Anyone have some tips about cutting the rubber? The scalpel I bought from Megaspin does not work well (for me) on the 729 rubber. Scissors do no get close enough to the wood blade to do much good. I would be inclined to cut before applying the rubber, but I notice that the rubber does seem to stretch a bit when glued. |
