The following message (subject: Rubber replacement saga continues) was posted by Gene, on 12/27/2004 4:15:11 PM:
Having (reasonably) successfully removed the 30 year old rubber, I sealed my blade with dewaxed shellac to avoid another rubber removal drama. I have now attempted several times to get 729fx rubber to stick to the blade using Butterfly Basic Chack. One corner of the rubber curls and does not stick. Dewaxed shellac is normally a universal sealant to which just about any wood finish sticks, but Basic Chack doesn't appear to stick to it very well. The chack goes on like something which reminds me of a bad cold, and the adhesion seems more like the descriptions I have read for speed glue. Is this normal? |
