Reviews of Victas Koji Matsushita ZC (3)

I purchased this blade 6 months ago and I so far like it a lot.
It’s a great blade for a modern defender who likes to counter attack.
It’s a bit faster than the regular Matsushita blade which makes it slightly less forgiving.
I use Tibhar grass dtec at 0.5 mm LP on the BH and DHS hurricane National Neo Blue sponge 40 degrees on FH.
The LP is a bit bouncier than I like so I’m actually switching to OX which I’m sure will balance the setup better. The DHS on the FH is in my opinion perfect for this blade. It’s also interesting to note that the blade has an identical shape to my 25 year Old Butterfly Matsushita Pro Model blade. It’s just slightly faster than it but it plays very similarly.

Review after 1 year of consistent use of Victas Koji Matsushita ZC:

Offensive Game:
I love this blade for its offensive capabilities and spin creation. Control is superb. Blade is on stiffer side, comparing to regular Victas Koji Matsushita version which is oversized wooden ALL blade, but still, you can feel mild flex with no vibration. While looping, blade behaves very stable. It pares well with tacky Chinese rubber.
Defensive Game:
It was challenging to chop consistently with hard sponge Chinese rubber because blade accelerates shots when you engage carbon fibers. My game was not consistent and I stopped using very-hard sponge and started using medium hard rubber. It fixed the issue and I was able consistently FH-chop with this blade and still have powerful FH loop shots as well.
Long Pips:
I tried many pips on this blade like Tibhar Grass DTex, Palio CK531A, Neptune, Butterfly Illius B &S, ..and ended up using Batterfly Feint Long 3 (1.3mm).
My current setup is
FH: Battle 3 38*
BH: Batterfly Feint Long 3 (1.3mm)
If you do not chop with your FH then put Battle 3 with maximum hard sponge and destroy your opponent by smashes and power loops.
Over all, Victas Koji Matsushita ZC is a great oversized OFF- blade that support your offensive game offering great stability and control. By adjusting sponge hardens and thickness, on your FH side, you can lower speed from OFF to ALL round speed if you need more control for your FH chops.
I highly recommend this blade for advanced players with solid foundation in technique and footwork.

KM ZC straight handle - 86 g. The grip is super comfortable - same as the new Victas Koji Matsushita (blue/black) : bigger than average (31mm X 24mm), and shorter (97mm). Overall feeling is close to Victas Koji Matsushita Special wich I love much : we can feel a stiff part in the core with a lovely softer touch from the outer plies. Both are very stable for chopping both sides ; for now, I would give a tiny bonus to ZC over SP for consistancy. The first impression is that SP may have a lower throw, with less arc than ZC. Neither ZC nor SP lack of speed for attacking, those are very balanced blades for choppers who attack much without sacrifying control. I will continue testing both (same rubbers : VS>401, 2mm / P1V, 0,5mm). If playing properties are confirmed, I can easily see me adopting the ZC for his lovely grip...
