DHS Hurricane 3-50 - Mid

Select color/thickness:

4.3/5

Hurricane 3-50 is the first choice for players who prefer to drive-loop and topspin. It integrates tacky rubber with an elastic sponge. The #50 sponge is receptive to ball contact, while the Hurricane 3 rubber friction grips and holds the ball. Such a combination provides the player with great ball feeling with every shot and suits players who want to exert a fast, stable loop attack.

If you've watched competitive table tennis at the highest levels, then you've surely seen DHS products in action. Perhaps the most notable athlete using DHS equipment is Ma Long. A legend of the sport, Ma Long uses a Hurricane 3 rubber on his forehand. Hurricane 3 rubbers are undoubtedly the most popular rubber series from DHS and are a prime example of hard and tacky Chinese rubbers. Many players try out the Hurricane 3 and H3 Neo rubbers on their forehand as an introduction to this style of rubber. These rubbers require considerable power to fully unleash their potential, as well as proper brushing technique. You can find the H3 rubbers in Commercial (NEO), Provincial (H3, NEO) and National (H3, NEO) versions.

DHS offers rubbers with different characteristics well-suited to other uses as well. The Gold Arc 8 series is a high-powered rubber that performs more closely to other brand's flagship offerings, with a grippy surface and fast sponge.

Reviews of DHS Hurricane 3-50 - Mid (7)

Excellent rubber (h37)for bh and fh on stiff or hard veneer wood. It deserves a much better rating than this one, 8.7.
It doesn't go well with soft wood blade because it's too soft, but if it's rubber on right blade the combination is great.

Not much to add to AndySmith's review, 9 years after it's still perfect.
Even if more "Chinese-top-sheet-on-medium-soft-sponge" options, as well as "hybrids", have been released since then, the H3-50 is still the reference and probably the best way to enter the world of Chinese (sticky) rubbers (even if Victas VJC>07 Sticky Extra is a serious contender).
Fantastic qpr!

I use for RPB on Yasaka Goiabao 5 blade. This set up suits me well. Able to produce heavy spin and enough speed to put pressure on opponents. Not enough speed to kill straight out but plenty of control and more speed than commercial version. Looping is easy and can produce difficult spin for opponent to counter.

I use Hurricane 3-50 37 red on my backhand. Its very soft, tacky and has lots of grip. The control is excellent, The tackiness gives you some decent spin and it's faster than a Hurricane 3 Neo. It's like a tacky Tenergy 80. It is also a good budget friendly rubber.
