Rozena is a rubber that definetely gives you what it promises. Opposite of Tenergy rubbers Rozena makes avarage players stronger while making strongers weaker. What I mean is when you play against a player technically less advanced than you, you may wish for a little more speed or spin. However when playing against better players, you probably pray for BTY engineers for creating such a good rubber each time your ball finds its way to the opponents side. I believe Rozena is a good choice for intermediates to have fun with the game and to elevate a higher level.

I'm glad Butterfly didn't name this one as Tenergy XX so we can get it at an acceptable price. I changed for this after playing Tenergy 05 for a year and a half and I couldn't be more satisfied. I get the same speed, great spin, better control and the tolerance is no joke. I get more hits on the table than before where every little mistake meant a not so spinny topspin or a miss. Super rubber, top choice.

Rozenna is Butterfly's answer to all the other "tenergy alternative" rubber's that have emerged over the past 3-4 years. I bought it directly from a butterfly vendor, and they described it as being just as fast as Tenergy 05 with less spin.

That is exactly what I've found after playing 20+ hours with the rubber. It's just as fast as T05, and is about half as spinny as 05. Less spin creates less of that classic medium/high throw angle that T05 has which took the most getting used to. I've had to change the way I hit the ball in order to produce similar spin my shots are used to getting.

If your game is more focused on counter hitting and flat hitting, then this is the rubber for you. If you're game is reliant on spin, stay away from this rubber.

Tried this rubber as both a B/H and F/H on my Pingmaster s/l carbon which had Omega V euro both sides.
Changed red omega to the rozena and played for about 2.5 hrs, twiddling the bat occasionally. Although the Roz is a good rubber and many people would like it (would compliment many playing styles) , it could not match the OVE in either speed or spin with the control being almost equal. The Xiom had a bit more grip, was slightly less bouncy
for pushes and service returns, and had a slight edge when it came to offensive play, the Roz being superior when I was forced to play passively or defend a loopdrive/ smash onslaught. So all in all the Rozena is a very solid rubber which can be used for both F/H and B/H, and may help you reduce some of those niggly WTF moments you have with some of the more top end tensors. Personally I have tended to opt for the slower more controlled blade option in coping with those uncooperative sheets as I am addicted to spin. Although cheaper than tenergy, Roz is still very expensive, especially when you can find a lot
of higher spec't current or slightly older tensors for $25-35 US dollars .Cheapest I've seen this is $44.95.

What a wonderful new rubber som Butterfly. Here are the pros.
-Low Price
-Easy to play
-Good forgiveness if you dont hit the ball 100% correct
-High elasticity

Overall it was a good rubber to take over for my T05FX.
Have played T05FX in 1.9mm on a zlc blade for over 5years now.
This Rozena give me a lot of the same, and i feel a better feel and touch. And to a lower Price. Lovely.

My first impressions after three training sessions. So far I played a Vega Pro on the backhand all in all is this a very good rubber, but away from table for me to slow. This is the reason why I try the Rozena. I play it in red 1.9mm.
The conversion was no problem. I play it exclusively on the BH, accordingly also my rating. Serves: I have not tasted enough so far, to make a usable statement. Short game: is easy to play with this rubber. BH-loops: are great. Blocking: is very comfortable, both active and passive. In my opinion one of the best, perhaps the best, I tried so far for blocking. Chop: Excellent chop game, very well dosed / controllable. Flick: were easy to play and dangerous. Hard BH-strokes are easy to play also away from the table. The hardness is between T05 and T05 FX i think. The quality is as usual from Bty without complaint. The price is acceptable, 39.90 would be enough .-) . No money wasted, did what I wanted and stay on my blade. For my game a great BH-rubber. Play and have fun !

I bought Rozena 1.7mm accidently, just to try it, from my friend and pair it with TSP Balsa 6.5.
I can say only good things for this rubber.
Now I play with Tibhar Stratus in 2.1mm and not planning to change combo.
Comparing to Tenergy series, for me is more like T05 but with harder topsheet and softer sponge.
It has lower spin and lower arc in openings-similar to T64, trajectory is shorter but speed is similar to T05.
Controle is much higher than with T05.
Poprilicno dugo traje, igram 2x sedmicno vec 5 meseci i dalje vuce odlicno..
Nadam se da sam vam malo pomogao oko izbora..

My friend just got this rubber recently (1.7mm Red) because he didn't want to get anything too crazy like the TEnergy Series since he is still developing his form, strokes, and overall sense of touch. I personally prefer this as a backhand rubber but it is still an OKAY option for forehand (I would choose TEn 05 on forehand or any chinese rubber).

My first impression after making contact with the ball,"...Butterfly definitely got this rubber right..."

It doesn't stand out in any sort of play characteristic except for its supreme consistency and sense of feel. I would love to have this rubber if I played shake hand (I play CPen Short Pips one sided only). This rubber plays according to the player's skill and abilities.

If you want a simple answer,"This is an above average rubber that I believe is more suited toward the backhand side for shakehand players (i'm not too sure about RPB for Penhold). If you want a quality backhand rubber to use as you're developing your 'style' and 'game', I heavily recommend this product."

A lot of people just look at this as Tenergy-lite but if you evaluate it on its own merits its a really excellent rubber for those looking for a balanced attack with good control and consistency, while still being dynamic with good spin and speed.

It has the same spring sponge as the Tenergy series, my best comparison being a slightly softer and more forgiving Tenergy 80. Its throw angle is similar to MX-P or just less than T80 on the Tenergy scale. It also has relatively good spin and speed being just a notch below the most aggressive attacking rubbers.

The other criticism Ive heard of this rubber is thats its jack of all trades, but a master of none. While it doesnt quite match the spin and looping ability of Tenergy 05 or speed of Tibhar MX-P, if your game is more than just pure looping and utilizes blocking, control, and placement (and you like Butterflys spring sponge) then this is an excellent rubber you should give serious consideration.

There's nothing you can't do with this rubber. It offers the dynamic attacking feel of Tenergy while being less spin sensitive and easier to use in the short game.

Feels like a step down from tenergy rubbers, all around. That's not to say it is inferior, only that the traits and characteristics are less extreme. A bit less spin sensitive, a bit less speed, slightly less catapult etc. Still works wonderfully well on the amateur level and I believe even a few pros have swapped to Rozena. About $25 cheaper than tenergy as well!

I think in a blind play test, 95% of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference! And their score would probably go up, as rozena is easier to control... it's certainly made to compete with other rubbers in this price range (tibhar mx-p, donic bluefire, etc.). Butterfly probably wanted to get a foot in the door, instead of losing those customers with slightly lower budgets. At $50 a sheet, I think any player under 2500 (so essentially everyone on the amateur circuit) would be perfectly fine with it. Sure, you might like how X rubber feels or Y rubber bounces more, and that's okay. But on the objective level, Rozena sits right up there with the best and I foresee it being a perennial best seller.

This wasn't a rubber I loved from the first hit. I initially thought it was just okay, and having most recently played with slower and spinnier rubbers (Hexer and Rakza X Soft), it took me some time to get used to it. After a while, I really like how versatile this rubber is. The spin isn't exceptional but easily sufficient, the sound is very nice, and it is much lighter than most modern rubbers. I also like the sponge hardness a lot as it seems to fill a gap in between the medium-soft rubbers (Rakza X Soft, Evolution FX-S) and medium-hard rubbers (Hexer), and it is precisely the hardness I am comfortable using both on the forehand and backhand.

Speed: high, not as fast as Tenergy64 but very fast
Spin: moderate, far from Tenergy05 but on par with other modern rubbers.
Control: very high: not very spin sensitive, medium hard sponge and medium throw makes it very easy to play with.
Great rubber for backhand or developing FH, does everything well. At the current price is a very good deal

What a brilliant marketing move for Butterfly to introduce this new rubber. With Tenergy prices leaving the galaxy this is a pleasant surprise considering Rozena's performance for a wide range of players. It reminded me of T05fx with a bit less spin and a tic more control. Also like Xiom Vega Europe but with more speed. This rubber doesn't need to be forced into making any shot in the game as it plays smooth with no quirky gears like regular T05. Also plays like T64fx with slightly less speed. Mid level players will really like what this rubber offers at a decent price point. Not as spin sensitive as many tensor rubbers. Am playing Rozena on a BTY P. Korbel in 2.1. Really nice combo for looping and aggressive allround style. Noted the lack of any tackiness to the topsheet however it is grippy to produce high spin. I have a feeling this will be a winner for butterfly worldwide and should be around for many years to come. Medium high throw, good feel, plenty of speed and spin. Gives confidence with service returns. A really good horsey you will enjoy riding.

It's more better controllable than T05 or T64. Strong spin and middle speed. I put this ROZENA on my Butterfly Primorac Carbon's forehand. Very good rubber for me that are not professional players.

This rubber it only can be compared to Tenergy 05. It is a bit lower, but that give a lot of control, I would recommend this rubber for those players who have mastered the basics and need some upgrade but don't feel confortable enough or have the control to use a hard rubber.

I play with 2.1 mm sponge on Viscaria FL both sides FH and BH about 5 months. This is a cheaper, slower and better variant of T64. Rozena is really an amazing rubber. Everything from serving, to flicking serves, topspinning pushes and blocking it does well. This rubber plays according to player's skill and abilities. I'm very satisfied and impressed on the control and speed of the Rozena rubber. It's true that this rubber is very forgiving and you will be amazed on its performance.I like this rubber because it is considerably lighter (43 g).I think speed = T64 - 10%, spin = T05 - 10% and control = T80 +10% because have low sensitivity to incoming rotation.Rozena gives you a comfortable and easy game and is just as durable as the TENERGY.Excellent choice for players aspiring to the professional level.

This is a downgrade version of Tenergy 05. The sponge is powerful even you exert a little power on your own. It is not very suitable for a very fast blade, the power & very high throw angle will make it hard to control if you are using a super fast carbon blade.

Although this rubber is often described as a jack of all trades and therefore boring, the Rozena is really an amazing rubber. What it shines at is dependability. Surely this is not something that sounds as sexy as high speed, high spin, high everything but its a remarkable feat nonetheless. Everything from serving, to flicking serves, topspinning pushes and blocking it does well. I think this allroundness can be credited to the slightly harder topsheet and the still firm sponge. Both make the rubber less sensitive to incoming spin while also providing the rubber with enough speed and dwell. The one thing I noticed however was that it is at times easy to overshoot the table on the 5th and 7th ball, but I believe this is due to my inexperience with the spring sponge and past play with short pips.

External Review for Butterfly Rozena on November 29, 2019
The Butterfly Rozena rubber is a really forgiving, yet spinny and fast intermediate level rubber. While highly skilled players should probably opt for the Tenergy or Dignics series, the developing player that still has problems with reading spin and adjusting the racket angle, should definitely give the Rozena a try. I am using the Rozena on my backhand, which is why I dont review forehand techniques. I used this Rubber on a 92g heavy Nittaku Violin FL LG All+ blade.

Countering is easy going. The rubber is still speedy enough to not let the ball drop into the net. Blocking takes some adjustment, because it reacts much less to incoming spin. I sometimes have the problem that the ball slips on my racket, when blocking a diagonal ball down the line. This is really bothersome but can be adjusted to accordingly.

Topspins played with a thin contact, such as flicks and slow loops, dont benefit from the sponge as much. They are spinny, but not as spinny as they would be if the sponge was engaged properly. This means that the rubber has plenty spin from mid distance and at the table, if you drive loop the ball. In this regard the spin production is quite astonishing, considering the spinsensitivity or lack thereof. Topspins against backspin should be player engaging the sponge, to guarantee the clearance of the net.

Short game/pushes:
The short game isnt the Rozenas strong suit. It is very safe. considering you do get away with bat angle inaccuracies without the ball popping up high. But the spin developed is subpar when compared to other rubbers. Again, you must engage the sponge to develop proper spin, so touching short whilst creating spin is hard, but long pushed should be alright with proper technique.
TL.DR: Perfect rubber for developing player. Low sensitivity to incoming spin, producing surprisingly much spin when engaging the sponge.

Good fast attacking rubber, it's extremely tolerable to miss hits and most of them still land on the table. I am currently using it on my backhand and it makes keeping pressure very easy.

I have no words to explain the feeling this rubber gives. I don't think this rubber should be compared to tenergy because it has its own category, it's softer than average hard rubbers, gives good control, feeling and spin, I found this rubber particularly good in combination with light soft blades and control blades, I believe there is where I felt the best of this rubber. I have used it in BH and FH and felt completelty good. The Buttefly page says that Rozena's main strenght is his forgiveness and I think that's right.

I have been playing for only 2 years, so my review is that of a beginner. Specifically, I use them for forhand and backhand (2.1). I arrived at these rubbers recommended by an experienced player. High level of control. You can impress a lot of spin but I found the rubber too fast for me and now I switched to less "reactive".

I changed my FH rubber to Rozena red 2.1mm after having previously used Xiom Vega Pro and Omega 4 Pro. The reason for change is I had become increasingly BH dominant and BH dependent to score points....and my FH had become erratic and was losing its offensive edge! There is nothing wrong with Xiom rubbers! They are terrific! It was a psychological thing that I had to deal with and I was looking for a different rubber feel!
I put the Rozena on Nittaku Latika (shakehand). At the first session, I disliked the feeling! But then, I was looking for something different! From session 3 onwards, I started liking it.
The topsheet is grippy, does not slip even in humid weather and produces good amount of spin. It is not too soft nor hard. The rubber can lift backspin effectively, pushes, flips, blocks, drives, loops well. Hitting together with spinning the ball feels better than merely doing a pure flat hit. My FH confidence in both the short game and away from table, is being rebuilt. Bonus: correctly contacted, the rubber hisses off a nice "poof"! For me, an important feedback on the quality of my stroke. I suppose a different rubber feel plus attention to rehabilitating other aspects of technique all add into the equation! Thank you for reading!

Not super spinnny but a good middle ground with mid hard and mid flex rackets. Great when boosted and blocks like a beast and slippage is not common but can be hard to brush dwell that may be hard to bring it over to spin it back over versus just land it.

I just got my new Butterfly Yoshida Kaii Cpen blade from Japan 3 days ago and went to my local table tennis club (Greater Toronto Area) today to give it a try. I glued a new Rozena black rubber with 2.1 mm sponge for the fh side. I just used a Bty red ph sheet on the bh side since the blade is already heavy and I'm used to playing with a Jpen blade (Senkoh 1 w/ Tenergy 80 rubber) which has a lighter weight than this new Kaii blade. I'm very satisfied and impressed on the control and speed of the Rozena rubber that it took me only 30 mins to adust to my new blade/rubber combo. I definitely recommend this rubber especially for developing players. It's true that this rubber is very forgiving and you will be amazed on its performance. Cheers!

What a beautiful rubber!!! A wise old man at my club once mentioned to me to try Rozena. This was about 6 months back. Recently, I was in the market to buy a back up racket. Remembered the advice and ordered 1.9mm for the backhand. I could not be more pleased. Although, the set-up I chose differed from my previous one, I have never been in so much control with my backhand before Rozena. Be it flicks, drives, blocks, hits or low chops. This rubber has excelled in everything. For me, this one's a keeper. Have used it for about 4-5 weeks and am simply in love with it. Not only has this helped in increasing my shot efficiency by 20-30%, but has also helped in increasing my confidence in backhand. Just hope to continue to improve as I seem to have found the equipment that suits my game. [Blade Sanwei F3 Pro; FH: Sanwei Target National Max].

Good learners rubber. Great for coaches to teach with and practice with. It has average spin for this era and not much control either. This seems to be the leftover bad parts of the Tenergy series that didnt make the Grade A cut and has 30% less spin and 20% less speed at a $25/30 off of tenergy. Buy a different rubber or do tenergg if you are going to do butterfly rubbers.

Really good rubber! Rozena is like a tenergy 05 but less spin. It is also cheaper, it has the same properties as tenergy 05.
I think that Rozena is a better rubber because when you hit the ball it gives the ball a high arc so it can go over the net safely and it is wayyyyyyyyyy cheaper than tenergy 05!

The rubber has the top similar to the tenergy but the foam is much slower. The result is that he has great spin and very easy in the top spin ... but he is not good for me in block and crushing
...tenergy vs rozena is like Viscaria vs viscaria light ...(another rubber, another blade..) ah ah ah!
