It works well. Not as easily as others, but well enough. It dries quickly. It seals very well. Please be careful if you apply two layers or more. You may have difficulty with the rubber stain glued to the blade. That happened to me, and then I had to use sandpaper to lightly remove one layer of varnish. Also, please pay attention to your blade's top ply. Depending on the type of wood used in the top ply, you may have to apply more sealant. If the top ply of your blade is a softer, more porous wood, it will be more thirsty, it will absorb the sealant more quickly and you would need to apply a little more than usual.

Besides, it also helps prevent delicate blade surfaces such as hinoki surfaces, from splintering when removing your rubber sheets.
Apply 1-2 thin layers of lacquer evenly to the blade surface with the included reusable/washable sponge.
