I'm not a penholder, but I assume there are similarities.

When blocking topspin, the worst thing you can do is try to "touch" it. Then the spin grabs and goes straight up. Try blocking with authority and punching through the spin. Traditional pens also seem to put a little sidespin on the down the line blocks. That seems to keep the topspin from grabbing even more.

Are you doing traditional blocks or rpb?
