| Don't think that handshakers don't have the same problem with heavy incoming top spin. I'm a handshaker and my problem is exactly the way cole described--I tried to "touch" the heavy top spin with my paddle open (vertical) and the ball just hopelessly fly off the table. I found that, beside trying to push back, I need to do so with my paddle at an angle also. This is easier said than done. It feels weird when you push with a close paddle since, intuitively, you afraid the ball will go to the net, but the top spin will prevent this from happening. |
