I don't think using an unglued sheet is the answer as apart from giving you extra spin and speed, gluing also makes the rubber softer therefore giving you better control.
I use Mark V on my FH but it is also to fast for my BH, even though my BH is my better side I can loop, block anything I want with my eyes closed, but MARK V is just to fast. Have you thought about using a much thinner sponge and gluing. There is nothing wrong with say Sriver 1.5m glued. It won't be as zippy but you will have the control to loop more consistantly. It will also be better for blocking and serves.
