Yasaka rubbers are steeped in history dating back all the way to 1926. The flagship rubber for Yasaka has been the Mark V. Mark V burst onto the table tennis world stage in the 1970 and 1971 World Championships taking home victory in both competitions. The Mark V is still going strong today and other versions of the rubber have been produced through the following decades. More recently Yasaka has developed Rakza rubbers which have taken innovation to another level. The shape of the pimples provides a strong balance between spin and speed. Rakza rubbers use Hybrid Energy to provide synergy between top sheet and sponge providing great elasticity for power and control. Yasaka has many more rubbers in their product line as well. Yasaka rubbers are used by top professionals as well as players of all levels. Be like 2019 World Championship Silver Medalist Matias Falck and choose Yasaka rubbers. Reviews of Yasaka Mark V HPS Soft (10)
The first thing I want to note is that the ruber does not have the indicated speed of 8.8 nor does it spin 9. This is above all a hybrid ruber transition between the new tensors and the old classic ruber. This is a ruber with more control. It is preferable to combine with quick and elastic blades where it will bring a good combination with the speed and spin. This sponge is a special development of YASAKA designed for water glue. If you can not control the new tensors, but the old classic ruber comes to you slow and hard, this ruber is for you. This ruber has a superb passive game precisely because of the average spin it has. The attack is quite decent in the right stroke. Medium high rebound angle. Rubber above all for lovers.
This rubber is for advanced attacker. It is not for beginners because it is fast. Spin is great (grippy surface and soft sponge) and it has power for looping from mid distance and away from the table. For better control I suggest slower blade. It can be used on both sides but I use it on backhand because I like powerful backhand to surprise opponent. Do not know about durability but if topsheet is like regular Mark V , suppose it is durable. So if you think you can handle the power, go for it :-)
This is a very good BH rubber. Those who say it lacks spin lack the proper stroke/technique. Fast on OFF and OFF+ class blades. High quality, consistent top sheet as always for any Mark V. Blocks well, loops well, hits well, and has more control than the Calibra's, Tenergys, Bluefires, Evolutions. Great for mid level to advanced allround offensive attackers. A great choice.
Do not like it on the backhand. The original MARK V probably is better. But on the forehand this is good fast and speedy for an offensive game
12.11.2013:
When I took this rubber in use, all my old opponents commented, that there are no spin in my strokes. The rubber lifted the ball so well, that I didn't notice that in the beginning by myself! The control is awesome, but at least other side of the racket needs to have proper spinny rubber. Anyway I do not want to learn any tricks with this rubber but replace it with some xiom or butterfly rubber. 16.10.2014, need to clarify: Of course there is spin in this rubber. The difference to my earlier Xiom Sigma Europa rubber came very clear because of my playing style (that was all about varying the spin). So opponents got narrower scale of spins and the strokes did not produce good enough disturbance with this rubber. I left my spin rating to 7.5 as it has been. Somebody who hits hard all the time might give >9 spin rating and still we would not have contradiction.
Hilarious spin and control. Its just what it wants to be. A updated version of Mark V with speed-glue!
I am very disappointed with this rubber. The rubber price is pre-glued next generation, and the feeling is to play with the old mark V. I even thought they were wrong and I had sold a normal V mark.
Mated to Yasaka Extra Soft Carbon blade, it provides an excellent blend of speed, spin, and consistency.
The best backhand i ever played with this new Yasaka rubber. Outstanding control, hilarious spin and very good speed makes this one a must have. Great with looping, specially mid-distance from table. Many of the best players here in Sweden are testing it right now, and i ahve only heard good words about it.
