Donic Bluegrip J series - The success story continues

The new component in the Bluegrip J series combines the strengths of two rubber sheets. Under the direction of the new Donic partner Zhang Jike, a symbiosis of the Bluestar A and Bluegrip C series was created. The top sheet mixture of the Bluestar A provided the basis for this combination, while the sponge structure and the geometry of the top sheet pimples are identical to those of the Bluegrip C. The result is a new rubber sheet that meets the highest demands: very dynamic and extremely spin-friendly, powerful and yet with good feeling. Three versions are also available in this DONIC rubber series: Bluegrip J1 is the hardest version, J2 the medium version and J3 the softest sponge version. China's superstar Zhang Jike personally spent countless hours of testing during the development work to perfect the fine-tuning of the nuances. The result is an impressive mix of the positive characteristics of two proven rubber series, the Donic Bluegrip J. The fact that this new series with the “J” is named after him, Zhang Jike has more than deserved.

Reviews of Donic BlueGrip J1 (3)

Blade : ZJ original carbon. J1 both sides max thickness (with Haifu national booster x2 and finezip 100 glue x2). 195g (too heavy for me). rubbers are super heavy, a bit tacky (not like H3). Spin is very high. Speed is linear. Block is excellent. Throw angle is maybe like D80. Effortless in counter spin. Weight of 55g per rubber. This racket is for advanced players cause you need to engage power with your body to understand the hidden power of this racket, with good legs ... Hardness is 57.5, at least it feels like Andro J&H 57.5, but it does not feel that hard. It is tricky for smash. But for chopper and looping away from the table, it is fantastic. Short push is excellent, as well as serves. Chop is also stable. It was many gears. Sharp attacks on underspin balls are pleasant with a cracking sound at contact. To me, such J1 in BH is too fast, so I am using J2 max which is a bit softer, with more control and maybe a bit less spin, but it is enough good. Maybe J3 might be too slow.

I have been playing with Bluegrip C2 for a year and a half, and love the rubber: Fantastisc spin (serves, loopes, chopping), without doubt the best non-chinese rubber there (havent tested the best there). Good control, decent speed. Wanted to try try Bluegrip J1 to see if it could provide more speed from mid/long distance. Feared that more speed would mean more "bounce" and less control, which does not suit my style, technique and level.

After 6-7 practices, I would conclude as follows: Provides the same, massive spin as Bluegrip C2. Without a doubt more speed - easier to counter with quality when pressed away from the table, easier to add speed when looping.

I do not feel like I have lost anything when it comes to control. Insencitive to incoming spin on serves, good for blocking. You can go for max on both sides: Absolutely controllable.

I can strongly recommend this rubber! I have played with hybrid rubbers such as Butterfly Dignics 09c, Tibhar K3, Andro C53, Vicas Triple Double Extra, Xiom Jekyll & Hyde C55 etc - they are nothing compared to C2 - and even less compared to J1.
