The Ideal robot should be able to duplicate the best human players. Current machines are able to change spin, direction, speed, etc. manually. Improvments in order of importance are:
1. to be able to randomly change the spin in any direction.
2. be able to oscillate randomly
3. be able to randomly change the speed
4. multiple firing heads should be used to serve from different angles
5. The most difficult improvement would be to simulate the visual cues an opponent gives that show the kind of spin, speed, and direction that is being imparted to the ball.
