I agree. Start off with cheap, chinese rubbers. These should be quite durable so should remain consistent while you try to improve your consistency in your game. Plus, when buying rubbers, ignore all the promotional and flowery words of manufacturers. Best look around TT forums to see opinions of rubbers. Since you are looking for spin, i think you should start with some friendship rubbers.

But if you really would like to try euro/jap rubbers, try for sriver or mark v.

Never start with advanced rubbers like bryce, magna, mendo mp.
