Instead of pushing, use a push angle but instead of trying to put your own chop on it, hit upward on the ball to lift the ball over the net. Don't try to spin the ball, use the existing spin and just bump the ball upward so that it clears the net as it goes back. The incoming chop will cause the ball to go back with more pace than you gave it with your bump but it will go back pretty dead. Hitting softely upward will easily counter the heaviest backspin.
