Good quality rubber indeed.
I would recommend this to players from beginner to intermediate level. It's good to practice and improve your technique. I used it on my backhand with DHS pg7. Drive, topspin and chops were fine. It has good control and descent speed, so one can play with full stroke. Good value for money.

Best rubber for begginers. But for better intermidiates it is slow. Yinhe mercury 2 great cheap alternative.
After many years of not playing I started with Mark V max on FH and 2.0 on BH and glued them on Ma Lin Extra Offensive. It gave me lots of control, I could recall what I learned years ago and polish my technique. After couple of months I started missing speed. My friend gave me Waldner Senso Carbon. WOW!!! The rubbers underwent a miraculous metamorphosis. From kind of slow, with almost no spin to fast, with nice spin and still with high control. Great loops, easy blocks, top spins and don't require as much power as with a wooden blade. These rubbers are great and can be a fast, precise weapon with OFF carbon blade.

Still a great all around rubber for beginner/intermediate players. The primary mistake beginners make imo is getting blade and/or rubbers that are to fast. Start off learning technique with slower all around blade/rubbers for the first few years before moving on to faster equipment. In the long run this will be better and Mark V is a great place to start imo. It still has plenty of speed to do anything you want as you learn technique and get footwork correct. Great place for most players is 2.0 for offense/all-around and 1.8 for defense or 1.5 for pure choppers. Just my opinion, I’m sure there are plenty who know more than me so best to seek a local coach’s preference for yourself if you are serious about playing. Have fun with your TT journey.
I felt it was a slower, less spinny and flatter feel than yasaka rakza 7 and even 'original extra'. I couldn't get any confidence from my shot using the Mark V on the FH. All rubber comparisons were on lower price point offensive wood blades. All rubbers were ~ 2mm thick. I am not a club player, but playing at home for ~40 years, as well as many very qualified players at work for ~25+ years.
This is a top-notch forehand rubber; I saw an almost immediate improvement in my FH loops and smashes when I made the switch from Palio Hadou 40+
My first fh rubber and it's great for begginers and intermediate. It has lots of control and is very forgiving when you hit it and spinny if you generate it yourself. Brushing the ball is good if you have the right technique. Very durable since I have it and am switching after a year to DHS Hurricane 3 (I train 3 to 4 times a week).
Definitely a classic rubber. I am very satisfied and will never switch to something else. Reasonable price. With proper care will last a long time. A great all around rubber.
I recently installed a 1.8mm on my Juic Seiha Carbon on my FH. The Spin is marvelous as always both for loop and power topspins. Speed is quite above average, considering the characteristic of the new ABS Polyball 40+. Glue used was the DHS #15 Water based. It might not have the speeds of the new tensor rubbers but i strongly believe that with the right technique and strategy, the Yasaka Mark V can still be a doable weapon in the current table tennis arena.
I am an intermediate level player. I have played for 50 years plus. I have tried many tensors, classic rubbers, sticky spin rubbers, long pips, short pips and ox rubber. Why do I keep coming back to Mark V? Because it's simple...it plays with you and not against you. Those that say it is to slow are simply wrong as they have not developed the proper mechanics of the stroke to develop power. As for spin the same observation applies. No other sheet of rubber on the market is more consistent than Mark V. Blade selection is not a problem as it is compatible with many blades and styles from defender to aggressive offensive players. A word of advice to all you hot gunslingers out there struggling with consistency playing with your 90 dollar pro level rubber...do yourself a huge favor and switch to this great rubber. Max thickness glued X3 on the right blade is pure looping nirvana. 5 stars.
used the 1.8mm thickness on a Stiga AR classic. worked perfectly: balance of spin, speed and control was excellent. if you have proper technique, you can put your opponent under serious pressure. Needless to say, it is a very long lasting rubber with proper care.
Do not recommend. No speed at all, average spin. Even cheap chinese rubbers can do better.

Used these to return to play after a couple of years of not playing and total suffering in darkness... Very good rubbers but i used to play with rakza 7 and 9 so it was a surprise when I realize the speed of MARK V.

One can never go wrong with this rubber. It’s a classic, fo it all, affordable rubber. I recommend this to all my students, beginners, intermediate and advanced too. The best thing about this rubber is it adapts to most blades very easily and has very good control.
If youve got to the stage where youre considering buying a custom bat (separate blade and rubbers), youll probably find the vast range of rubber options bewildering... in which case I would highly recommend getting the Yasaka Mark V. Its a relatively fast rubber compared to those found on pre-made bats with great control and spin, which really allows you to go for every shot without fear of the ball flying off the end of the table. Ive been using it for a few years now and it still performs to the level it did when it was new so its highly durable and will serve you well. In summary, if its good enough for ma Lin (who used it to win multiple world titles), its good enough for an intermediate player. What I would NOT recommend is getting too fast a rubber when youre just starting out. The speed can make it very hard to control the ball and therefore you will likely become very tentative and find it difficult to play a full stroke.
I have this rubber since 1992 on an old Stiga offensive classic. At that time it was very difficult to play with it for it was very fast. I think it was the faster rubber on the market. Today i think it's possible to play with it much easily but there are so much rubbers on the market it is right buy one of them in a low thickness for the fact you can easily find. Mine are both 2.0 and it is good to block, but when you smash by backhand it's pretty uncontrollable, it's fast but you can find better and more spinny rubber even for the forehand. We can say if you are a great player you can play with it, if you are not it's better you try something else, like Donic Coppa or others with harder sponge i guess
great control rubber. I got the Rozena on the FH, which I struggled to control. However to be atleast a valuable training partner, I just use this rubber during the rallies before the games with better players and can return more consistently.
9 months in, 6 months with coaching. Rubber is great. Legendary, as it's been around for 2 decades and I can see how. Not too fast, spinny or hard to control but just perfect. Deadly when mastered, controlled to learn on.

That's all as long as I can remember. The main thought is I just realize the best of Mark V after I've been through with many setups of blades and rubbers, and I've made a certain big progress in my plays. At the first time I had the Mark V with Yasaka Ma Lin EO, I did not feel any special about this legend rubber. But today, I know for sure, very very sure indeed, that this rubber is a real legend. Mark V is a real "do-it-all" rubber as those said. I can execute all my strokes very well with ease. My powerloops, smashes, punches, hits, drives are fast and sharp, blockings are good, touches are easy, choppings are good also. Basically I am a penholder, but I decided to learn playing with FL too. My styles, when using Cpen I use Ma Lin's style, and when using FL I use Kreanga's style, killing with my BH. We must be at a certain step of skill untill we can use the best of Mark V can give, all the gears. So, my thought is that this legendary Mark V is not for beginners, cause beginners can not explore all the gears of Mark V. No wonder someone said so many advance players still using Mark V, and they are so good for sure, because they know how to use all the gears. That's all...

Personally i wasn't convinced by Mark V and Mark V Gps. I found it too fast to begin TT with, played with stiga all around classic. I even had to downgrade back to vari spin because i lacked control with it. Now with more experience i don't see the point to take this rubbers instead of an entry level tensor rubbers. Mark V is now old, not made for the new ball, not a tensor. And not even so good for beginners (i would prefer vari spin). Played in 1.8mm i think, or 2mm
I am a beginner. I used to use Vega Japan and Rakza 7 Soft. They are really fast to me on the TSP Reflex 50 OFF blade. I replace them with Hurricane H8 and Mark V and it becomes very safe to perform all kinds of technics: looping, chopping, blocking, pushing... I am very happy with this combo.

Yasaka Mark V is a classic rubber. The fact that it is so long on the market indicates how good the quality must be. Superb in playing topspin but also in blocking. The control is good and it has many gears. It is long lasting and always identical. Although it is not a tensor rubber, used very often nowadays, it is performing very well and still used at any level of play. This rubber can be played on all kinds of blades. From def to off+. All wood or carbon. Alc or zlc blades. It looks like it is adapting to the used blade. ;)

A perfect first rubber for custom bats! If you are a quality premade(Stiga Pro Carbon, Palio Legend) user and is looking for a step up, Mark V will not disappoint you! The rubber(2.0mm) is fast enough to finish a point on an OFF- blade(Nittaku Latika). I have never tried any rubber and like it on the first try as much as this one. Generate a good amount of spin. More spin-sensitive than premade racket but still manageable.
I have used Mark V for many years on different blades. Its a great rubber which lasts a long long time. Very versatile and all rounder. Suitable for both FH and BH. Would be a great choice for beginners to medium level players to improve consistency.
My favorite classic rubber along with Donic Coppa. This is an all time classic to be sure. I think too many players and especially developing or new players pass up this rubber in favor of the newest tensors to their game's detriment. As a developing players I used this rubber paired with a 5 Ply All+ blade and it really helped me develop my strokes and set a solid foundation to develop further. The control and consistency of this rubber is amazing and it has enough speed and spin for most recreational players. Recommended.
When I was younger (35 years ago) I used original Sriver 1.5. Three years ago I reintegrate with the sport I loved and started with Tibhhar Speedy spin, Tibhar Evolution MXP and played for 1 year with Tenergy 05 (max). I liked to play with Tenergy 05 for fun but in the competition it was to bouncy and I did not like the high (arc) throw, especially close to the table. Blocking is also very tricky with heavy incoming topspin. A very high ranked tabletennis-player suggested try Mark V from Yasaka. It has low throw, great control and lots of spin when used on the right frame. First I started with the Stiga allround carbon frame and I immediately felt tons of control but it slowed me down. I played max on the forehand and 2mm on my backhand. So I decided not to change rubbers but to change my frame and bought the ALC frame from Butterfly. (Zhang Jike ALC). Expensive but If your hobby is horse-riding and you need to buy a saddle, and the horse is not even there...., so why not. I decided to purchase the ALC blade and give it a spin. I am not going to overreact with oooh's and aaaah's but this combination is a serious weapon. Topspin and looping feels great. With chopping and blocking you have to adjust a little because of the speed.

I am an intermediate player with 40+ years of tournament experience. I have played with everything over the decades and can say with supreme confidence Mark V is The Rubber to choose if you don't train on a regular basis. Some people say it is slow and not spinny in this age of tensors and composite blades. This is a false assumption. If you execute proper technique this rubber delivers brilliantly. Beginners choose a thinner sponge for control on a medium speed blade. For intermediate level players choose 2.0 or max thickness. Want superb loops and great speed?..glue a new max thickness Mark V three times on OFF class blade and you will have a gift from the gods. Advanced player can stick with the expensive tensors, for the rest of us players who want superb control, fast speed and great spin (with thicker sponge) Mark V reigns supreme. You will not find a better quality rubber in it's price range. 5 Stars.

I've used Yasaka Mark V both sides on a Butterfly Jonyer H blade, about 10 years ago as my first custom TT racket. The combination absolutely knocked my socks off and took my game several notches up. After a 9 year break, I'm returning to the game and naturally, I took the refuge of the ever-dependable Yasaka Mark V rubbers with a new Neottec Revolution blade that my friend handed to me. I can clearly see improvement in my game day by day. The combination is working wonderfully for me. Some of my old shots are returning after all those years, and I am able to learn a new range of strokes from my coach. I can confidently say that Yasaka Mark V can do whatever you ask of it, if you have the skills and mastery over a range of strokes. Sometimes even I can't believe that I can play some shots until I have played them with this rubber. The perfect plan for me is to pair it with an all-round / all-round+ blade and to learn and master stroke by stroke under a good coach. That would be a very strong foundation for a solid all-round game for any aspiring TT player. Many thousands before me would have said it. And now, I am saying this. Yasaka Mark V is pure TT awesomeness!
The problem most table tennis players have is they feel they need to find the most reactive and tensored rubber out there to get the fastest play for their game. What they don't realize is all these "catapult effect" rubbers are extremely non linear and difficult to control without tons of coaching. If you are a player who has taken hardily any lessons from coaches and looking for a stable rubber that is easy to feel this is the best choice for you. This rubber is not going to lie to you and it will give you the shot you give it. If you're opponent blasts a rocket at you and you want to counter it aggressively you can feel assured that this rubber isn't going to launch the ball into oblivion. This rubber gets a lot of harsh criticism for being slow and it is indeed slower to the tensored junk that quickly puts people into a plateaued rating level, but it's because the speed of the ball is solely dependent on the stroke you place on the ball. If you hit hard it will go hard and if you hit soft it will go soft; period. You will climb the rating level with this rubber if you continue to use it, and you will learn how to finally feel the ball. This rubber is not just for beginner and intermediate levels but I know many advanced players as well who use this rubber pretty offensively and know the secrets behind what this powerful rubber bestows. Mark V is the only rubber out there that has feelings for you and wants you to get better, so you should reciprocate Mark V's generosity and give him a shot on your blade.
A really good rubber to learn (and thus, to continue improving your skill) table tennis! Using it on my BH side, with a lot of practice, RPB is quite easy, with correct technique especially in the back-swing moment, the amount of spin generated is great! For passive blocking it is just fine. The only thing it lacks is... speed. If you are a speed oriented player, you'll like another rubber with bigger catapult effect... Even though it is a classic rubber (from SG era) it is still worth to buy, worth to play with!
This rubber is only for intermediate players. It has low throw angle. It has medium spin and speed. It has tons of control. It is very light in weight. If you are advance player don't buy this. The people buy because it is pocket friendly. It has some durability issues. It looks worn after 20 to 30 hours of play. Spin gets low after some time. Buy it if you are an intermediate player who is going to make its first customize racket and finding a cheap rubber.
Mark V is not slow,I used to think it is a beginners rubber....but as you develop your game...it shows you more gears...I can hit spin shots that spin sideways 2-3 feet.Also it is fast enough with great control. It excels at close to table play with great touch for the short game as well as looping, hitting and quick counters.Very consistent.

I started table tennis 3 months ago and bought this rubber as a beginner, learning equipment for an allround style. I started to feel a bit slow quite early on but it was really great to learn how to spin at the beginning. I know that this rubber is widely used by recreational players who are rejoining to this lovely sport and I can also recommend this for newcomers. Not an offensive rubber, nothing fancy but does the job well with no question.
I have it on an old Hanson Asler- my bat that I have to say is the Rolls Royce of all.
After 25 years( not using for many years mind you) it still does a good ,'ghost serve", its spin and durability matched with stellar control and softness makes this the best.

Best rubber for beginners. But after you improve your style and technique, the spin and speed will not satisfy you.
Great rubber that lives up to its reputation. Does everything well, and is very forgiving if you fail to strike the ball exactly as intended. Similar to Sriver...but better.
I used as FH on my CPEN AVX P 900 blade . It is awesome. I love the loops, smash and also touch play.

This is an awesome rubber. Every coach recommend this rubber for the beginners to intermediate player although it is not a slow rubber, got a high spinning potential. This old classic rubber is my favorite rubber for its spin and control. Many players think that this is only for beginners but if you are intermediate offensive player pair it with a OFF/OFF+ blades for extreme control and speed. This rubber also compliments the defensive style, I will not say it is a allround rubber but more than that OFF-. Bases on 2 hour session of training I rate this

Great all around rubber if you want to be able to do every type of shot well with no big weakness. Similar to Sriver same speed and control but with a little more spin and higher throw.
Great learning rubber for basic strokes, but probably not powerful enough for strong loopkills on the plastic ball. I should buy another sheet to find out.
There was a time when it used to be amongst the "fast" rubbers. Now it just feels so slow with all the tensors lining up. Much slower than the slow tensors like nimbus soft. But still a great rubber for learning table tennis. Highly highly recommended for beginners, recreational players and early intermediate level players

hi , after reading several reviews i decided to use Mark V rubber for FH and BH with Joola Carbon Blade its awesome you can play any shots far away from table and close to table. Spin is awsome and topspin specifically chance less. marvelous control and shots go flat to table. I used GKI Kung fu then Donic waldner 900 now using mark v which is god of TT . I recommend to all starters which will improve your game rapidly and fast .If you are not placing the ball in table then it is your mistake not the rubbers mistake. i recommend for all basic to advanced player this rubber.Speed is too awesome if the shots are hit in right angle.

Love this rubber easy to flip serves loop balls, chop balls anything you can do this Rubber can do. Only problem is that its kind of slow, so I would suggest to use it on the fast blade or use it to learn new strokes.
When I was struggling with my rakza 9/7 2.0mm, mark v 1.8mm came to my rescue on viscaria blade. I am truly amazed on the performance of this rubber. It allows for play in all gears. I do not miss my rakzas while playing with mark v. Unbelievable control and actually nice speed (8.6/10). It allows for pushes and outstanding on the table and mid distance play. (Added: Superb at loopong both BH and FH... I fall in love with this rubber and I was never so good with any other costlier rubbers... only I miss the hard rubber feel on FH). Mark V is not as bouncy as a tensor rubber but it is not as hard/dead as Chinese rubbers either. It adds a bit of power to your strokes without totally messing up the control. This is why Mark V is famous for. It complements the feeling and control of your blade.

I use the Mark V on a 729 Professional Wood L-2 blade as the front and back rubber. The blade is an OFF- and these rubbers are just perfect!

If you want to block and have good control with spin and speed you have this rubber could block all day long with it
I simply love this rubber.Since I have bought this rubber my no shot has landed in net or outside.Though not very fast speed is good.It's price is very much reasonable.I use it on BH.It's control is absolutely amazing.The spin is also good.Most of the time I am able to deceive the opponent with my services.I would totally recommend it for back hand.my blade is joola falcon fast

Physical Properties
I got my sheet of Mk V in red. When you first get the rubber, the rubber is slightly tacky. The sponge wasn't super hard, but it wasn't super soft either. The sponge hardness was about in between. A medium-hard sponge. The rubber topsheet was super soft. The pips that are attatched to the sponge are visible if you were to look through the top of the topsheet of the rubber, so that looks cool.
Speed
Since the sponge was medium-hard, the yasaka mk V has some good amount of speed. It's not super fast compared to some of the tenergy line of rubber. It's speed is still pretty good.
Spin
Whenever you loop or topspin with the yasaka mk V, it produces a good amount of spin with good depth that goes over the net withh a nice arc. Spin is good, its not as good as some chinese rubbers, but the spin is pretty mediocre for todays style of play.
Control
The overall control of this rubber is defiinately where the rubber shines. Whatever you want to do with this rubber, it'll do it. You want to loop, it'll loop. You wanna topspin, it'll topspin. Literally everything that you can think of doing with this rubber, it'll do it with ease. Control is excellent with this rubber.
Looping
Loops with this rubber are okay, it produces a decent amount of spin. I don't think that this rubber is the type of style you should be looping with. Theres better rubbers out there you can loop with.

Then when I got my 3rd blade-Bty Primorac Carbon, so I switched Mark V onto the new blade. Yasaka Mark V is suitable for attacking all-rounders. It has a soft sponge. It is a very good rubber which lasts very very long.
i love this rubber. very consistent. for every person that i know thats getting into the sport, i always recommend the mark v. it is also good for an experienced player that wants a long lasting and very controllable rubber. bottom line, best rubber for all around.
I put this rubber on backhand and i feel that this rubber ia slower than i expected when im trying to do a backhand loop even though i already use a fast blade.
When I was younger, I played with a Butterfly Power Drive/Mark V combination. This setup allowed me to win several tournaments in the early 1990s. After a 23 year layoff, I picked the sport back up and joined a league. When choosing a new blade/rubber combination, I was overwhelmed by new technologies such as carbon blades, tensor rubbers, etc. I began by purchasing a hard carbon blade (Xiom Stradivarius) with a fast rubber (Yasaka Rakza 7 soft). This combination was too fast for defensive strokes such a chops. I then decided to go with a slower more controllable rubber (Xiom Vega Europe). This rubber allowed my game to improve, giving me more confidence in strokes such a looping and blocking. Yet, I still wanted more control without sacrificing speed. I then decided to experiment with an all wood blade in order replicate the playing ability of my old Power Drive. I switched to a Nittaku Septear/Vega Europe combo and found my playing ability improve rather quickly. However, I was lacking confidence in my shots when playing against certain styles. After much consideration I purchased a Nittaku Kasumi Basic/Yasaka Mark V combo. This combination was amazing. I could hit all my shots with ease. I even defeated many players in my league that were giving me fits before. This combination provided excellent speed with precise control. I was truly amazed. This goes to show that a "classic" rubber from decades ago along with a simple 5-ply wood blade can be just as formidable a weapon as the newer technologies. As a result, I don't see myself using anything else. This rubber can't be beat when it comes to gears and its ability to play any kind of shot with consistency. Mark V would be perfect for a fast offensive blade in order to slow it down and provide greater control. Conversely, it can also take a slower all around blade and provide good speed with even better control. I highly recommend Mark V for all levels of play from beginner to advanced.
Compared to modern rubbers, Mark V is definitely slower and has a less efficient sponge but it has a very good feeling of control albeit a slight bit bouncy. Dwell time is good, decent spin that can easily produce slow spinny balls that mess up opponents. This is a good rubber to step up from cheap premade bats as there is good feedback that will allow development of technique. You can get the rubber for about $25 and at that price I would not bother with Chinese rubbers with their suspect quality control. Compared directly with the Sriver, I find the Mark V to be much superior to the plastic feeling Sriver.

This is an amazing rubber, very good speed, spin and control. This plays very well on an Off++ blade. It's weight and sponge hardness is perfect and also the top-sheet looks good. It can be used for forehand or backhand rubber or both!. You can play any shot you like with awesome control. I would recommend it for intermediate/advanced players for this rubber to be used to it's full potential, however it can be used by serious beginners also. Serves are also very good and spiny and the short game is outstanding.

Best Backhand for me, Red good for Backhand def type but its only good for backhand i think because its slow rubber, not suitable in forehand xD
Been using the Yasaka Mark V (2.0mm, red) since A.D.1980. Have seen at least 30% of players practice with this product over the decades. The sponge is more firm than the original A.D.1979 Yasaka Tornado (1.5mm, gold) and the rubber surface is more durable, but heavier than the Tornado. Mark V is more tacky, though much less "elastic" than the Tornado (miss Tornado greatly). The result is an incoming ball being returned with a consistent and reliable medium force (very controllable) spin. The durability is amazing with this original formulation and goes long way to support the many derivative Mark V products. The Mark V has a firm resilience and requires a disciplined hand to create long distance looping. Once mastered the looping becomes second nature for Shakehand Grip Players. The tacky and solid spin producing surface makes for predictable aiming with Chinese Penholder Grip Players. Have played both Shakehand Grip and Chinese Penholder Grip since the 1950s.
Shakehand Grip produce more solid power return balls. And Chinese Penholder Grip produces all the Three Dimensional and odd "Impossible"

I put Mark V 1.8 mm for my forehand on my Andro Super Core Cell Carbon OFF blade. I've got to say it's really awesome rubber. My blade is quite fast and Mark V rubber is slow and control so this combination is so great for me. I am playing in competition and this new setup has helped me to win more easily. Before Mark V, I got Andro Hexer HD 2.1 mm on my forehand and this setup is super fast for me. I could not control the ball well when doing forehand loop. However when I replaced Hexer HD with Mark V for my forehand, I have better control for my forehand loop and even smash. I really enjoy Mark V for my forehand. I am still having Hexer HD 1.9 mm for my backhand and I am thinking to replace it with Butterfly Sriver EL for my backhand in order to have more control.

im a beginner with good mechanics, this rubber has picked me and my game up, learning to loop, chop, push, block, and serve with this rubber is so rewarding because when i do it right the ball is not returned with lower level players (1200 and below) now here is the other side when playing higher level players the speed is not fast enough from my hits to keep them from returning the ball unless they give me an EGG to kill, this soft rubber is giving me a little trouble with low energy balls im useing 1.5 and now im moving to 2.0 will report back after a month or 2 of use
When you feel you're not beginner any more, it is time to buy Mark V. When you start to feel like a competitive player it is time to say goodbye to Mark V. Everything in between is Mark V domain :-) This rubber will teach you how to play. It has great control, satisfactory spin and speed. It can do all the shots pretty good. At the same time it does not excel at anything. Unfortunately price is too much for such an old rubber. You can buy similar Chinese rubber for 3 or 4 times less money.

Played with Mark V only using speed glue, and this rubber can do it all. Not sure why its rated here so low, it has plany of gears, fast when you need it, and accurate on the touch shots, always predictable with no issues to control it. Excellent allround rubber, which can be matched with any blades. And if you put to the mix different sponge thickness it can be used by any playing styles.

this is my first rubber and i am very happy with it. it was sorta hard when i first bought it. but after about 2 weeks it became soft. its an awesome beginner rubber cause it has very good control. it can make good spinny serves. it lacks speed though. you can train with it to develop your consistency. i sometimes feel uncomfortable when i do loops cause you have to make the ball dig in to the sponge for it to make lots of spin.
overall, its a beginner rubber but it can also be used by an experienced player due to its spin and control.

simply one of the best - specially for learners. you learn about feel with this rubber - at some point this rubber makes you think about different shots and angles because you feel you can do them. it is great for training in offensive techniques -0 like everyone says, it has a great combination of speed, spin and control, but what i remember most is the feeling when serving and looping.

Traditional c-penplayer. Use Mark Von Avalox BT777.It is an old reliable still excellent and very good value. usethis combo when I play against defensive players. Mark V is excellent against spin .
This was my 1st serious rubber on a shakehand I ever owned. I am amazed on the durability of this rubber. It still performs after years. If you want an all around rubber that does a little bit of everything and will last a long time, this is for you. Price is fairly competitive at $31. Particularly for the longevity. You will like this rubber.

Control with Mark V is exceptional and for an attacking all-rounder, like me, can generate lots of self-confidence. I'm top spinning off both wings much better and consistently than ever before, and much of this improvement can be put down to the quality of the rubber allied to better technique. The spin capabilities are not exceptional especially when serving but is usually enough for my(local league standard) ability. My game has benefitted a lot since I began using Mark V and I doubt if I will ever change my choice of rubber except for another of the MV range of rubber.
This time around stuck this sheet of 2.0 black to my back hand on carbon blade (Waldner Senso Carbon) and must admit this rubber is an addiction.I have used very many tensors in the current age but nothing comes closer to this rubber in terms of linearity and feedback. It may definitely lack some speed away from the table but like mentioned i am using it on my BH and i am not a looper away from the table so it works great.
Linearity i meant is in terms of speed and Feedback in terms of your stroke production;This rubber literally helps you correct your stroke during a game , if you didn't play it right, which is awesome.
An Underspin ball not looped about right goes to net which is exactly what i want instead of rubber doing the magic randomly.

Good rubber.This rubber is used to get to know your blade when you play with it for the first time.I feel the Sriver series is somewhat better in performance.

I use Phantom 009 with mark 5, I know its an odd combo, but its is working like anything. Mark 5,by no means is a non offensive ruber.

Very good rubber! I used Mark V max on forehand and 2.0 mm on BH on a darker legatto 2A speed grip. This combo has great control and surprisingly fast!!!
I've recently been using my dad's old paddle with Mark V on both sides and after 16 years, it still plays great. Literally, the rubber has not been changed for 16 years. Good speed without being too fast. Pretty decent spin, but nothing crazy. I use it more as a driving rubber than a looping rubber. A surprising amount of control too.
just got this rubber for my forehand and backhand and my push shots suddenly got faster.. great control as well aside from being faster than the DHS PF4 that i used to have
This is a classic, long lasting very consistent well balanced rubber. Initially I thought its too slow, but after a couple of weeks playing on my FH, found it very powerfull and much more consistent on smashes and powerdrives than modern rubbers with sell sponges
I used the Mark V, 1.8mm when I started playing on my bh. Fine all round rubber, a little slow on my All round blade. Great control, good for close to the table play. Put the Mark V 2mm on my Off ++ bat and it has good control and speed.
Easy to loop, block, chop. Serves are okay. Control during rally is good. Smashing and flips are decent as well. Speed is decent. Such a great all rounder. Easy to adapt to
I tend to agree with Anonymous (April 30 2011). I found the YMV to be an unexciting rubber on a soft blade like mine (Stiga OC). It is merely OK. I stuck with it for a whole season because I had paid good money for it and because it didn't really mess up my (developing) backhand, but I thought I had been mislead by the excellent reviews here, which I now think are mostly echoes of past glory. The ratings for spin and speed should not be much higher than 6 by today's standards. Control is subjective. The rubber does nothing wrong but it doesn't really do much, that's why I think the price is too high for what is esentially a very unremarkable rubber.
I don't know why everyone gushes over this relic. I played with it years ago when it was the best around and loved it. I tried it again recently and was disappointed. By todays standards, it's decent but not exceptional. There are plenty of rubbers which outperform it at half the price. Gambler Wraith and Gambler Outlaw are two examples. Both are faster and can produce more spin and have the same level of control and touch. Both are less than half the price. Mark V had it's day, and that day is long gone. It should be priced right around $10.
I have used Yasaka MarkV on a Joneyr H-AN Blade it performs very good in both speed and spin.
I haven't been using it from a long time but it has taken a 1 1/2 year.

Started playing with this rubber since joining a league 5 yrs ago and it has helped me improve my game by a lot...do not have much to compare this rubber to yet but i would definately suggest it to anyone...i have a new paddle with different rubbers on the way in the mail (only cuz i want to branch out and try something new) I have an allround /offensive style game and it suits me well

use to use mkv when i wse to play for uk back in mid 80's just sarted playing again using mkv with donic blade, think sponge is too think as i find it too slow. Control and spin are great though. Think i'm only using 1.5mm so need to change to atleast 2-2.2mm.
Not very fast but having good spin. Control is just up to the combination. It is a good idea to use Mark V with a carbon blade, it should balances the speed of the blade and the spin of the rubber. When playing it, you can all most feel the fraction through the surface of the rubber.

This was the rubber i used before xiom pro on my FH. It is a great rubber for players that are developing their technique such as loops, smashes and etc. It is a very controlled rubber and generally pretty good spin and speed. This rubber is great in many ways because it is cost-efficient, durable and is a very steady rubber to begin with. i recommend this rubber for any new players that are planning to seriously develop their skill. absolutely fantastic ruber in my opinion

So far used Sriver Fx, Sriver EL and Mark V on my Jonyer-H blade. Mark V is the best among all these, great speed, great spin and control overall best all round rubber. The most important thing is I play where there is always huge amount of dust, and Mark V is idea for such conditions, its durability is awsome. both the Srivers are almost dead but Mark V is still playing TRUE.
I am a 1834 rated player. Was using Sriver EL and G2FX on VSG blade. Tried this Mark V (2.0) on Gatien extra blade. Great control. Speed and spin has not been compromised at my level. Very good for me.
Mark V is an excellent rubber for the attacking player who wants speed and spin. In thinner sponges - 1.5mm or less, it will work well for defensive players who likes to counterattack with power and spin. I started to play with it in the late seventies and it's still a great rubber. A true classic.
Does what it says. You can do pretty much anything well with this rubber, but nothing stands out as being outstanding. Great for beginners as it is a good barometer for your skill set. You can always upgrade to more spin, speed, pips, etc. but Mark V is a good place to start. Also seems like it will last forever!

Used by Olympic champion Ma Lin. My vote for the finest rubber in the world. Mark V is not slow, it is fast with great spin. It excels at close to table play with great touch for the short game as well as looping, hitting and quick counters. The speed to control ratio is high. No rubber is more consistent from sheet to sheet. Not as fast or spinny as tensors but more controlled speed. A great rubber for any player from beginner to pro depending on thickness. Update concerning spin. With Mark V used on blades with limba outer plies the spin is higher than expected. Play it with BTY M. Maze or Primorac and you have a spin machine. Loops have severe topspin. Those that think Mark V is to slow simply do not have the technique or arm speed to get the full potential. Having used most of the tensor rubbers including many Tenergy's I returned to Mark V with better consistency while still maintaining powerful loops and drives. The perfect inverted rubber. Update. I am an intermediate level player and have used everything in the book from very expensive composition blades to all 4 types of Tenergy's. Want more balls on the table with great control/speed/spin? Get yourself an ALL+ class blade and 2 sheets of Mark V max or 2.0, 3 layers of glue and you will have a racket from the gods. You know your not going to the Olympics so take my advice. Mark V is the absolute best classic rubber in the world. Another update. I get a bit angry when I read where players are calling this rubber slow. A max thickness sheet glued X3 on an Off or Off+ blade is plenty fast to end the point. Mark V plays with you and your style due to allround properties. The poster who said it wasn't a durable rubber must leave his or her racket in the car without a case. Mine will last 8 months of play 4x a week.
Along with BTY Sriver Mark V is a world best seller. Great for pushing, looping,serves, and service return. Mark V has a different feel than Sriver. The throw angle is higher and has better spin than Sriver. Mark V loses a bit of control in counter looping or hitting away from the table compared with Sriver A great classic rubber from Yasaka. Fast, for close to table play.
This rubber is fantastic for all round or conservative offensive play. I found that it's also fantastic for playing defense. It has great gears and control. But, it isn't for the player who is all out offense or is a heavy looper.

This is one of my favorite rubbers of all time. I can see why this rubber is one of the best-selling rubbers ever along with Butterfly Sriver. Not particularly fast and not particularly spinny, one might wonder why so many people really like Yasaka Mark V. After using it of a while on two different blades, Yasaka Gatien Extra and Butterfly Boll TriCarbon, for both forehand and backhand each time, I am convinced that the Mark V is an extremely forgiving rubber with outstanding control, a perfect weapon for the Allround Attacker. By "forgiving" I mean that this rubber is slow enough for very consistent return on all of your opponent's spin and power shots. It works best with a hard OFF+ or carbon blade; I have found that any loss in control by the blade is compensated for by the outstanding control of Mark V and also that the offensive quality of the blade can take the rubber up a notch in terms of play. Great for both offense and defense, Mark V made me feel so at ease while at play, there was ABSOLUTELY ZERO hesitation before any loop, smash, chop, block, counterdrive or simple topspin return even with a super fast blade like the Butterfly Boll TriCarbon. Like I said, Mark V is not really all that fast or spinny; its beauty lies in its control. But don't take it from me, this rubber has been tested by both hundreds and hundreds of players and time. Don't just read my review but the reviews of the hundreds of other people, and I'm confident enough to say that they will agree: Yasaka Mark V is a top quality, top class rubber.

Has a soft topsheet on top of a medium sponge. Similar to Sriver except is spinner and faster.
does anything more need to be said? it's one of the two most successful rubbers ever (along with the Sriver). let me put this quite simply: my coach had the same rubber from the early 80s until he dropped a table on it (long story) in 2003. hasn't changed since it started and it's still the benchmark for all offensive rubbers.
Yasaka Mark V is a rubber that completely depends on speed gluing. Without speed glue, the rubber is not very fast at all, not to mention that its not very spinny either. It has pretty good control thought, so even without speed gleu, you can block with it very good.
With speed glue, this rubber is still nothing out of the extraordinary, but its definitely a great offensive rubber. It has lots of spins, and you can make etremely fast shots. The control is very nice, you can get a feel for the ball easily.

I tried this rubber in the '80s and it was awesome. I tried it a few months ago and it was still awesome. This rubber can do it all - it's a little faster and spinnier than it's Butterfly Counterpart - Sriver. Definitely a top notch choice for any style of controlled or offensive play. This rubber will withstand the test of time.
This rubber is a true classic. It's similar to sriver but the topsheet is slightly spinnier and more elastic and the sponge is harder. Overall this rubber feels softer than sriver because it has a butter soft topsheet.
Not much needs to be said about this classic from over 20 years ago. This is a fine do-it-all rubber, loops, counter drives, chops and serves well; could be a tad soft for smashing. Long dwell time and muffled contact sound at all speeds characterize this rubber. The rubber seems to go best with harder blades (Off), and has good linear response.
Very good rubber for pros & semi pros. Not at all suitable for beginners. Classic Japanese finish. When glued to carbon gives a good metallic sound. Its a all round rubber for loop, smash, chop, near to table or mid distance loop games. One of the best rubbers I played
