ok this is the most reviewed and sold blade anywhere.
I used btf TB CAF before. then the donic original carbon classic which is actually a really good blade. Decided to spend the money for this and crossing my fingers.
Listen up. I will NEVER need to buy another blade in my life. I could have saved a lot of money and time just getting this the first time. Its the best. I tried my friends too. yes.... this is the best. period.
I put DHS on it. they wanted a divorce right away. like oil in water. I thought the blade was overrated maybe. put on nittarku fastarc G1 on it. jesus christ. This is a match made in heaven. Its the best racket I ever tried. period.
This is your one stop shop for a blade. Right here. Anyone complaining about this blade is out of their freakin minds. Maybe a pro would go for a slightly faster blade... but honeslty I am not sure it would be doing them any good. the control is insane. i LOVE it. no more blade shopping ever again. Done.

Quality, 91 grams FL, medium speed, good control, wide grip, medium hardness, medium low permanence, linear, difficult to generate arc, plays better with Chinese or hybrid rubbers, large sweet spot, consistent, is softer and more flexible than boll alc, spirit alc, in my opinion the innerforce woods provides greater security in the game with the same consistency, Best for my harimoto alc and long 5

my dreamblade since I was in Highschool way back 1998. I have been a Donic Waldner Senso Carbon ST user for 10 years and when I returned to play this year, I find the ball to hard for my current blade. I purchased my Viscaria FL with serial number "X" or 2023 manufactured. Rakza 7 FH Black, Rakza 7soft BH red and the spin and speed is so fantastic. Great ball feel which is near my Waldner Senso Carbon. I also purchase a backup Yinhe Pro01 FL which I find a bit harder than Viscaria. I tested using max frequency monitoring and it actually confirmed my experience with Viscaria vs Yinhe Pro01
Viscaria -1350hz FH 1400hz BH
Yinhe Pro01 - 1450hz FH 14800hz BH
Waldner Senso Carbon ST - 1180hz FH 1250hz BH
Great Balance using Rakza 7/7S for a total weight of 184.4grams
Blade weight = 94grams

Transitioning from a Butterfly Korbel SK7 paired with Tenergy 05 to the Butterfly Viscaria with Tenergy 80 offered a subtle yet discernible shift in my playing experience. The Viscaria, despite its similarity to the SK7, boasts a slightly larger sweet spot, enhancing the precision of each shot.
The only difference I had was that a sweetspot is slightly bigger on Viscaria, while everything else is very close. I guess it is needed to say that Viscaria is a bit faster, 5-10% to be honest.
Overall its a super classical setup allowing myself to control everything in mid distance, while looping close to a table requires more effort and slight changes in my technique.
To sum up - you cannot go wrong with all-time classic.

I've been playing with this blade on and off for around five years. I always come back to it. The combination of koto and ALC gives that crispness that's unlike any other blade I've played.

Excellent blade for attackers. It works really well with Tibhar Evolution MX-P.

so many people = many reviews = a lot of people who make mistakes
one word = it is about to choose setup good -wrong . Viscaria is not for beginners . if you are a player near the table put tgy09C ...baracuda ....fastarc G1rubbers semi-distance player tibhar mxp or K3 hybrid .... and so
for beginners all wood paddle like xiom offensive S..... nittaku acoustic ... tibhar stratus power wood

The Viscaria feels extremely good on backhand either in block push or top spin, it's easy to attack underspin balls too, and to control the game when far from the table.

Forehand it's crisp and strong.

Serve it's good regarding spin and control. Serve receive game it's where I'm having a tougher time when trying to receive short.

It's a great blade, just a tad faster than what I can control.

Control was superb, even when combine with anti rubber on the backhand side. Speed just enough and also have big sweet spot (using viscaria fishcale version). Since stifness was average, very suitable with fast rubber.

Unbelievable blade.

Loads of control and enough speed to win a point outright

For me, Viscera is only a famous blade but not a nice blade for everyone. Overall, it is a balanced blade with fast and spinny. It suits really good for its backhand but not for forehand. The feeling of BH is really good. You can automatically block most of the ball really comfortable from your BH. However, its forehand is the main weakness. Really unclear hand feeling when you are playing with your forehand (except those old tags like O and P tags). If you want a more balanced/all rounded blade having the same BH with viscera, simply go for AZXi/ FZD and LGY alc

The best blade ever made and wielded by mere humans and pros on earth throughout the ages it has ever existed... A somewhat speedy blade with great amount of control - as if this blade is made for those vicious topspins and many other sorts of shots, without any significant weakness to it. Mine weighs 87g, perfect speed level for me (I don't consider myself a strong-armed person) to drive and loop from all distances - best at close to middle range though. Pairing this with H3Neo/T80 (FH/BH) just like the legend ZJK, every shot is literally intuitive as if the blade IS the one moving my hand. Forehand loop, backhand block-driving with table flicks, have a huge % of landing. The only small peeve I have is the SMALL handle design, I'm using FL and I need to pinch the bottom part with my ring/pinky finger hard otherwise the blade might fly out of my hand lol

A melhor madeira que ja usei na vida, um pouco mais pesada do que eu gostaria, mas incrivel em potencia e controle!

I was comparing all the blades by its stiffness and I found something truly not accurate with this blade as I have DHS Hurricane Long 5 and Viscaria to compare, so I found that Long 5 supposedly is harder than Viscaria and that my friend is not true so thats why I need to make my review, to try to help the accuracy of this page because limba is way softer as an outer veneer than koto, and on second hand I find out is that is the stats it shows that Viscaria is rated as a blade with average flex/stiffness and in my case my Viscaria has some flex (if you drive balls you can tell it has some flex, a bit of time holding the ball) due to central ply being kiri that is a bit flexy, I can say that this blade is flexible when driving the ball and when it comes the time to loop kill the ball it becomes hard because you make vibrate the outer ply so much that you can tell by the feeling and the sound that the blade does (imho super sexy sound btw) also Hl5 is the other way opposite being a bit stiffer at driving the ball and more dwell time when applying more pressure to loop so becoming more flexible, I hope I made some justice to this two blades and hope I make myself understand, but more important I hope this will serve people that wants to buy this gem and needs some orientation on blades specs

Very good spin, speed and power, enough control and throw to land your shots on the table. I would recommend it to advanced players with good technique.

After long searching blade that fit my table tennis playing style, mw searching end on this blade. Suited for attacking playing style. Specially on bh side. Bh loop is amazing and powerfull, I dont have to use my full arm movement, just using wrist and little arm movement to make a quality bh loop. Even with that movement I can make a powerfull bh topspin. I put a cheap rubbers yinhe jupiter II on both side, fh and bh on this blade, I wonder what if I put a premium rubbers, is it gonna make my stroke more powerfull or it will make many errors on my stroke. I dont know the exact answer..hehe... But I love my current setup. This blade is something that I'm gonna use for long time...no more ej's
I'm sorry for my poor english...

This blade has speed and control but rubbers too matters so best speed 9.7 rubbers are best in this ply

I have been playing with this blade for about 8 months now and I understand why it is such a legendary blade. The speed of this is very fast. Looping feels unstoppable. Counters feel like I can put a hole through the table. I find it very difficult to push with this blade and play off the table in particular. Other than that all the basic strokes are easy to do. I'm a two winged looper 3rd ball attack play style and this blade works very well for that. I plan on trying something new tho because I do not like the feeling of the blade and I also don't like the handle. Plus pushing and playing off the table is very difficult.

Tried this blade with T05 hard. I gave 10/10 to Jike ALC, but I have to give 9.5 to Viscaria. Just because ALC looks better and has nicer handle, but it is the same blade.

My viscaria was 88 grams and Hurricane 3 fh and T05Hard bh, The blade has good feeling but it is quite stiff surprisingly to say. I can feel that it is harder than I super zlc because i have tried zjk super zlc before and it feel a lot softer. It has good control close to mid distance from table but it is very hard to play away from table. away from table play is different the feeling change i dont like that feeling. if you like away from table play i do not recommend this blade, if you have a weak body then i do not recommend. If you have ljk or fzd thicker body build is easier to make power with viscaria. But overall this blade is an amazing blade for close middle distance play and can control ball well and preforms amazing in anything related to close table play.(My personal opinion everyone's is different, hope this helps.)

88 grams paired with hurricane 3 neo provincial orange sponge 40 degree 2.15 (With Haifu Seamoon booster) on forehand and MX-P 2.2 on backhand.

This is a very special blade and you need to know how to use it, which is very different from all wood blade like 7-ply wood blade like samsonov force pro black. The "Viscaria" is specially designed for "compact looping play style", which can be different from other wood or carbon blade which can suitable for "big arm movement" play style.

But once you know how to use Viscaria, with my equipment above, I can perform a fantastic shots with a very compact movement of my arm.

normally Viscaria is suitable for players who plays at least 3 years of table tennis. First year use 5-ply, 2-3 years use a 7-ply wood blade, and starting the 3rd year you can try Viscaria and Hurricane 3 rubbers

04-SEPT-2020-Good blade, crisp sound, decent speed, control not outstanding, but good. But honestly, this is highly over rated blade.I find Andro triber -Z far more superior at my level.maybe fro pros this could be a great buy.Works well with Tenergy 05Fx(red) for my BH,FH I use Joola Maxxx-P.Very brittle edges.

I got this Viscaria "M" version blade via trade two years ago. I glued a DHS H3 Neo 40 rubber on the FH and a Xiom Oza rubber on the BH. This blade has better than average control but it is not for beginners. I could put the ball anywhere while attacking as long as my form was good. Topspin strokes needed good hip rotation to get good power but that's just the only way to really use DHS H3 Neo linings........Update!!! Switched to Andro Rasanter 48 on FH. This blade now flies while having almost the same great control. Update!!! I just got another Viscaria hence the new review. I sold the earlier "M" version. This is the "O" version. It is softer with way more control and topspin ability. It is truly a weapon. It had both sides Tenergy 05 but they are due to be replaced now. Seemingly works best with Tensor rubbers. I am currently using T05 hard on both sides. Awesome topspin weapon for attacking strokes and blocking.

This blade can do everything well! I love the crispiness of its backhand flick especially! It goes well with many different kinds of rubber - hard, fast, tacky, Euro/Jap, you name it. I tried Tenergy 05, Dignics 05, Hurricane 3 Neo, Sanwei Target National, Rasanter R37, Vega Asia, and a few others on it. Among all of them, Tenergy 05 matches the best. The relatively softer feel of the blade gives extra dwell time to spin the ball while the stiffness of ALC provides a direct feel when driving. Short balls are not as easy as all wood and inner carbon blades but that can be adjusted. The best part of this blade is its feedback to your fingers - not too much vibration and not too muted - just perfect enough regardless of hard or soft impact. To me, that separates a great blade from a good blade.

The blade I decided to stop trying others (straight handle). It's fast, light and solid. I use DHS H3 with Xiom Vega Pro.

very fast blade, yet still have a very good touch and control. One word to describe this blade is "balance", from the feeling to the weight. It's not head heavy like most blades, average weight is at 88g which make this very amateur friendly as well.

9.4/10 for OFF style. FH/BH: Butterfly Dignics 80, 2.1mm, 47g (0.23g/cm^2), 40 degrees (Shore A). Blade: Butterfly Viscaria, 88g, 157mm x 150mm x 5.8mm (Width x Height x Thickness). Plies: 7 (5 Wood + 2 Composite): Koto - ALC - Limba - Kiri - Limba - ALC - Koto.

Butterfly has decreased in quality and raised prices a lot, this Madero is not consistent, in principle it was made of 5.8 mm, and has varied to 5.5 mm and its sweet spot is narrow. I had michael maze arylate-carbon 6.0 mm with a wide sweet spot as they were made years ago. But the company by reducing costs lowers its warm and exaggeratedly increases its prices.

Purchased this blade before BUTTERFLY decided to raise & jump the prices up and glad I did. Got myself a very nice 86 gram Butterfly Viscaria blade and put Tibhar Evolution MX-P Max on both sides and I see the reason why the blade is very popular. First of all the flared handle is amazing and feels very comfortable in hand which is very important. The weight of the blade after adding the max rubber and side tape is 190 grams (not to heavy or not to light but perfect). The blade has a nice softer feel than most carbon blades but can explode with power when needed and gives you a sense of control when hitting. Blocking and ball placement comes easy. The blade plus EVOLUTION MX-P MAX can be as fast as you want it to be. Playing with this blade will definitely boost your confidence level whether winning or losing. Of all the Butterfly blades this one sits at the top of the chart and well worth the money spent. Not much more to say accept the gorgeous blade is deserving of 5 stars and a 10 and will definitely help you victimize your opponent. LOL!!! Give it a try.

I recently started using Viscaria blade with Xiom Vega Pro on FH and Joola Energy X-tra on BH. I was using these rubbers on TSP Balsa 4.5 which is ALL rated blade with speed of 7.5 on rev spin. Viscaria blade is OFF blade but it is not super-fast and has a wonderful control and feel for the ball. Hence have rated the speed as 8.0. The throw angle is medium-high and helps to top spin low backspin balls. With Viscaria I am able to play away from table with much more control and precision. The flat hits are fantastic as I am able to generate a lot of power. This is when the effect of ALC is felt.
The sweet-spot seems quite large which has helped a lot with my backhand loops.
Overall a FANTASTIC blade worth the high price. Highly recomended.

This is a tried and true blade used by a lot of players, and I've only grown to love it more as I've developed as a player. The best quality of this blade is its balance of power, control, and feeling - only bad technique can take away from these things for this blade. Of course, if your style is more extreme or you have very specific preference, it makes sense to use other blades, but for any developed, modern offensive style player, you really can't go wrong with it.

A very good blade! I always try some other blades but always come back to Viscaria.
The only downside is the small and sharp handle. First I tried to sand it but it didn't help. So I put couple layers of overgrip on it and it became normal for me. BTW Dhs Gold Arc 8 plays excellent on Viscaria max on forehand and med thickness on backhand.

This blade is very all-round. Fast, spinny, and very good for backhand flick and backhand topspin attack. It is suited for counter attack style close to mid distance, but not for beginners.

This review of the Butterfly Viscaria is based on it being my 3rd paddle after Stiga Allround Classic WRB and Stiga Evolution previously.

I specifically requested for the lightest available Viscaria blade and was given one which is at 83g. I think others may prefer the heavier ones but this one is just right for me. Paired with Butterfly Rozena 1.9 on both sides, the paddle feels pretty light and well-balanced (not top-heavy). The thicker and more squared handle also creates a better and more comfortable grip. This allows for easier transitions between forehand and backhand strokes.

The blade produces a good amount of vibration that somewhat allows you to feel the ball, similar to my previous paddles. It is also definitely a faster blade given the lesser effort required to produce the same ball speed.

I've fallen in love with this setup from the very first time I've held and played it as it delivered what I was looking for in terms of weight, comfort, feeling, speed and spin. This is by far my favorite and most balanced paddle setup yet.

Forehand: DHS Hurricane 3, Backhand Yasaka Rakza 7. The blade has a very nice woody feel and quite a lot of vibration, I find the blade very controllable with enough speed to win the point outright. Touching short is almost effortless due to the hard sponge of the Hurricane 3, aggressive forehand and backhand flicks can usually be an outright winner, serving is also a dream if you can keep a flexible wrist. This is by far my favorite and most balanced blade I've tried.

Viscaria, it's a blade between the balance of speed and control, also became popular when 2012 Olympics Champion Zhang Jike started using, I found this blade from a gift of my friend, Bryan, it came at a cool package , at first forehand topspin,it is not as fast as Timo Boll ALC but it has more control on the blade, you have a safety when you're doing forehand topspin, Counter Topspin is easily done for its high control,I am using Neo Hurricane 3 provincial Orange sponge on my forehand which is 2.1mm thick and at a degree of 40,when I am topspinning, the blade gives you a lot of dwell time so you can control the ball,Hurricane grips the ball well, and when timing great, you can generate a ridiculous amount of spin and sonic speed, Secondly, Backhand topspin, this blade is for Zhang jike so it must be very great for backhand, I am a backhand topspin player too, like Ovcharov, Zhang jike,I like to use backhand to dominate the opponent, this blade is a super useful for backhand, you have lots of control and the ball will go wherever you push or attack,I am using Dignics 05 2.1mm on my backhand,it grips the ball and can generate so much spin and speed, the ball comes at a low to medium trajectory so it is hard for people to block, At last, Blocking, this blade is a balance between speed and control, so you can easily block, but for me I don't usually block,I like to counter attack close to the table. This is my review of the Butterfly Viscaria. Thanks for watching.

Very good blade with medium feeling and control. Handle is thinner than standard size, recommended to use grip tape for big hands. Pair it with medium soft rubbers (t05 if boosted). Rakza 7 soft is too fine.

I'm fairly new to table tennis - about 2 years of self teaching and i just started training with a coach. I had a Yasaka Sweden Extra with 2xT05 and i decided to switch to Viscaria. Best decision of my life! The spin and control i get is mind blowing! I also love the feedback i get when playing - it almost feels like the sound and feel of clicking on an old school mouse.

Ratings for 88g. Fairly fast and hard blade. It's koto, alc, limba, kiri, 5.8mm. Other blades like this are Timo Boll Spirit, Timo Boll ALC, Zhang Jike, Treiber K. They have different handles.

here is my honest review of this blade i am updating , this blade has a low throw, it crispier in feel i can make the ball slow or fast everything is possible with blade you name it spin, chop, BH,FH, smash but the handle on this blade is a minus point plus the size of the blade had to be half cm. extra which is ok , I changed the handle on the viscaria ,changing is very easy dip the handle part in boiling for 10 minutes and slide through the handle with a sharp knife slowly it comes, clean and then apply which ever handle is flexible. i changed the handle, a long flared one to my surprise it works perfect better than the original handle i am using Dhs Skyline TG 3 on the FH & Dhs hurricane on BH the quality on my shorts have increased and the speed is getting better day by day

Hi i am looking for a new blade. I do more offense and looking for better control blade. With a medium hard. I am an intermediate player. I am still confused to pick either viscaria , primorac carbon? And i also tempted ZJK super Alc, which might not proper for Budget wise and intrrmdiate plyrer like me. So i need input for me. Really appreciated

My journey to decent beginner took me from a Primorac all-wood blade to Viscaria. The transition has been completely seamless, using T05 on both blades. The way Viscaria is usually described it is quite daunting dabbling in ALC blades as a beginner, but Id argue I have much better feel and even better flex than when using blades like Yasaka Sweden Extra and Primorac.

This blade feels and sounds like this would be the blade all other blades were spawned from. Everything just feels right and as expected. Using Ternergy 05 on both sides against Amicus Prime I can do fast forehands and backhands all day long with incredible consistency. The carbon kicks in at just the right time, and you can often feel the flex very clearly, much better feedback than any wood blade Ive tried.
The weight and balance is perfect. Ive had better handle fits on other blades (Innerforce Layer S) and the design is super dated.

I now use this blade exclusively even though addiction has taken me through a bunch of other blades - Primorac (T05), Stiga Rosewood XO (MXP), Carbonado 45 (Mantra M), Innerforce Layer S (T80), Joola Rossi Emotion (H3neo), Infinity VPS V (Genesis IIs). Total weight of my Viscaria with T05 is 171g (my lightest non-balsa bat).

THE blade, even after all these years. Works perfect with every kind of rubber, backhand is great.
The only blade on the same level is DHS301, but while the DHS301 is a lot more focused and delicate close to the table, making serves, serve return and touch much sweeter, the Viscaria doesn't lose power when backing from the table, and is just seriously powerful.

Have been using this blade for little over a year now. FH is Hurricane 3 Provincial 39 Degree 2.2mm and BH Skyline 2 Neo 39 Degree 2.15mm.

This is the most balanced blade I've used, it doesn't feel top heavy like some others I tried like Dynamix17.

The blade is great for looping or driving close to mid-distance, and the feel is a tad stiffer than lets say a PG7.

If you are an intermediate level player, the spin factor is crucial for winning rallies. The spin potential of the Viscaria makes counter looping one of my favourite aspects of the blade. Paired with a harder rubber, at mid distance, this blade makes the ball kick off the bounce very noticeably which finishes points outright at times. Blocking on BH is also great which is an underrated quality imo.
My only contention with the blade is it doesn't pair especially well with the Skyline 2's low throw, so would not recommend it with this rubber. Hurricane 3 NEO for FH however is a must.
Also, the blade handle is a bit wide and can hurt sometimes. This is definitely my go to blade, will try this with H3 NEO and Tenergy 80 next. Feel free to email me questions. Cheers!

EDIT: I have been using this blade with a H3 NEO 41 degree on FH and Tenergy 80 on backhand for a few months now. Comparing this with my Andro CSV OFF+ blade, I've noticed that this blade is a lot faster than I first thought. I have subsequently changed my Speed rating accordingly. Since I am using the same FH rubber for both blades, it became apparent that I would shoot the ball off the table more frequently with the Viscaria. In fact, I think this blade is far more suited for mid distance looping than close to the table due to the speed of the blade. Once I'm at mid distance, the margin of error is a lot larger, and the blade really shows its full ability. But one thing for sure, if you are a close to the table attacker, you may have to change your playstyle to adapt to the speed of this racket.

For anyone considering a Viscaria i hope this helps. I have a Viscaria, Tim Boll ALC and a Tim Boll Spirit with Evoltion ELP on the forhand and FXP on the backhand, both max thickness. I play an attacking top spin game from mid and close distance.

The Tim Boll ALC is the fastest, more suited to mid distance, has good feeling but not very forgiving. It is quite direct with i would say a medium throw.

The Tim Boll Spirit is slightly slower than the TB alc, has less feeling but a bit more forgiving and seemed to work well both mid and close distance.. Again i would say a meduim through. But it felt dull due to lack of feeling.

The Viscaria......for me the right choice. Has great feeling, slightly slower than the other two, much more for giving, works both close and mid distance with a medium to high throw.

For me the Viscaria has more of a wood blade feel which i like, and for me the balance between speed and control is the best i have found to date. The blade is geared up for topspin attack. I would have liked to stay with a wooded blade but felt rather outgunned by carbon blades to for me the best option, unless anyone else knows different.

This is the best blade I have ever used so far- it's great for looping and smashing, especially when you put tensors on them... I used Xiom Vega Japan and Joola MaXXX 500 on them, and it is a BEAST. If you want a looping machine type blade, then this blade is for YOU!

An amazing blade for mid distance loopers and the only ALC blade I play with now after being a long time equipment junkie. Great speed, control, consistency, power, and flex: this blade can do it all with no significant weaknesses. Looping, flicks, blocks, flat hits, and short game can all be played extremely well with this blade. Butterfly ALC blades are all great, but the handle and slight head heaviness of this blade just make this perfect for me. The only time I wouldn't recommend this blade is if you are a beginner still learning the basic strokes and then you would be bettter served with a 5 Ply wood like a Nittaku Acoustic or Violin. An all time classic blade for offensive players!

The best Butterfly ALC blade for me. Supreme control with nice speed. Old but you can not go wrong with this blade. Only for good players and not for beginners. If you are searching for a softer TB ALC you should try this legendary blade.

Update: I am playing 2 month with this blade and I love it. Feeling is insane. I was never a fan of a koto outerveneer blade but this blade is awesome. Feels soft and has more than enough power to finish the point.
This will be a keeper for a long time. Compared to the Nexy Kanaph I played before it is a better looping blade, while the Kanaph is a better blocking/pushing blade because the throw angle is lower. I love both blades but the Viscaria fits my style better.

For close-to-the-table power loopers. Classic offensive blade with excellent control but best to pair with mid-tacky rubber on the forehand.

Based on a club coach recommendation, I got the 90g version. It's fast but very consistent.

To be honest, this is my first time using Butterfly ALC blade. I think the blade is fast and very suitable for topspin attack. When using it, I feel I can generate more power to my ball. Due to its hard chateristics, I need to hit the ball right off from the bounce to generate a good topspin. This blade good for driving, counter-topspin, blocking, and topspin stroke. If you like to loop from below the table like Xu Xin does, I won't recommend this blade because I don't feel any flexibility on this blade, unless you're using soft sponge rubber. I think Viscaria's koto outer veneer make this blade feel stiffer than any other carbon blade. I still prefer a carbon blade with limba to koto as an outer plies.

This has to be one of the most highly sought after blades ever. And it doesn't disappoint. Not with the right rubber anyway. I am a loop oriented player, preferring to return the service short and controlling the placement of loops thereafter till I can loop drive one down the line or cross court. Naturally,I started out using the highly recommended Tenergy 05 both sides, as I am very familiar with it. It played well with counter hitting and looping. The close to the net play left a lot to be desired. Against attack style players, I found my self popping up their short low spin serves, taking 2 steps back and attempting to counter attack or taking a ball to the gut. After a couple of practice sessions of that, I went back to using my old blade. Yet, I missed the feeling on hits and loops and the speed of smashes. I began doing some research on rubber that pairs well with Viscaria and decided to give DHS Skyline 3 Neo a try. After a couple of weeks, wearing down the extreme grip of the rubber, my problem was solved. No more issues with play at the net. I also gained spin and consistency on my serves. FH: Skyline 3 Neo BH: Tenergy 05 is perfect for me on this blade.

I used Gergely (Old logo) and Schlager Carbon Off+ before. I really want to improve my skills because Tamca 5000 carbon blades are really passive to use which game me less efforts in playing and more on winning the game by power drives. So decided to change my blade to Viscaria. the 1st month I used this blade, I really need to adjust my strokes and power because the speed and consistency of this blade depends on you. The feelings is really different because it has less catapult than Tamca 5000 carbon blades that will gave you an advantage to control the ball. When I use it in forehand loops it was great but when I use it in my backhand it was a monster. I put Tenergy 64 on my backhand and Hurricane 3 blue sponge on my forehand and it seals the deal! Take your time to study how to use this blade because for sure you will not look for any other blades after you get used to this blade. This is for keep! It makes me a better player.

Best blade I have used so far. Very good for forehand flicks, and the backhand is amazing. The only thing that isn't outstanding is looping heavy under spin with the forehand. The blocks and short game is very controllable. Would recommend this blade to people with a rating no less than 1800+ All in all very good blade and worth the price. :)

Played with TB ALC, ZLF, ZLC, Photino, TBS, Rosewood and even my teammates ZJ Super ZLC for a month and in my opinion none match up to this blade, currently accompanied by two 2.1 tenergy`s (80's at the moment). My style is dependent on what mood I'm in when I get to the table and it covers everything, up close, mid-dis, countering and particularly content with lobbing consistency in exhibition points. Perfect blade.

Fast and explosive power when needed, controlled and forgiving when needed... This is the best blade I have ever played. Arylate is good. I feel confident on the table, at the net, mid distance and long distance. All the beautiful review of this blade are true. It took me a week time adjusting to viscaria, but afterwards I am sure level up. Must try... Though expensive.

Comparing this to many blades too long to list, the Viscaria (mine 89g) feels more solid, refined, crisp, sharp than all of them. For an ALC blade it is very close to perfect (apart from players different opinions on various handle preferences, how else can you improve on this?). The rating for control that is 8.2 is completely misleading. It is one of the most precise blades for its speed I have used to date, control is really 9-9.2/10 at least. Awesome sounding blade on power shots too. Truly high quality blade.

This blade is like an extension of your hand. This is not a blade for Tamca 5000 users because it feels different and it really needs huge effort for you to generate power. Take your time to study how to use this blade because for sure you will not look for any other blades after you get used to this blade. I'm not planning to change my blade anymore. https://instagram.com/p/7VDoMLgRRl/ - just a small clip of my playing style. I played with the timo boll spirit for a few years and I just switched to the viscaria, I found the timo boll spirit stiffer, this allowed me to have a great smashing ability and hard penetrating shots but there were many points I wished it had a tad more control. When I missed it was always by the smallest of margins. Once I bought the viscaria to noticed immediately that the control was greater, I'm still getting use to it but I'm finding that it has a similar play to the tbs but with added control, to me it feels rather light and so I just added 2.1 tenergy on both sides and I like the weight. I personally like being able to actually feel the ball contact the racket. It generates great spin over the table or off the table and I'm currently still figuring out the backhand, I've considered sanding down the flared handle, since I've become so use to the flexibility of my wrist with the straight handle

The very best of all the alc blade out there. Simply no replacement for thislegendary blade. My blade is 85g. I prefer this over my tbs and tb alc. It's just better at everything by a small margin, just got that edge. Very crisp on all shots .has slight softer feel but still medium hard. definitely more precise feel of catching the ball on every loop. Hence high dwell. Throw is also medium to high similar to tbs may be better. Tb alc has slightly lower throw than viscaria and tbs with the same rubber test. Only advantage tb alc is it has better balance of weight. Viscaria for me is worth every penny.Must try blade , I have over 30 top end blade and this is simply the best along side with xiom vega pro blade, yes unknown but true (xiom)

Viscaria is a soft, speedier version of the TB ALC. It is more head-weighted, great for topspin counters and better than the TB at short-long 3rd ball attack combination play due to the softness and speed variation between outer and inner plies. It's harder to create a high arc though because it sticks so much with the ball. For power loopers, this isn't as good. The Viscaria best suits speed loopers and is kind of between a TB ALC and Mizutani ZLC. For me as a two-winged power looper, I prefer the TB ALC. The only reason why I've stuck with Viscaria is because my 1st string ex-CNT coach insisted.

Compared Viscaria to my Timo Boll Spirit. Viscaria has slightly larger FL handle and was 3 gr. heavier. More direct feeling with a pinch more stiffness and power. Looping close to table sent the ball longer than TBS. so stroke adjustment is needed. Very suitable for mid distance looping and hitting. Good touch for the short game pushing and chopping. Blocking on BH was brilliant with Viscaria. I felt TBS was better for looping mid and close to table while Viscaria was better further away from table Counter hits where very fast with Viscaria. A bit head heavy with Tenergy rubbers. A great blade for mid and advanced players. These are getting easier to find now.

i have n currently using the TIMO BOLL SPIRIT n i can tell u that this blade is too fast for a player my level. around 1400. the TBS is like part of my arm i feel like i can place the ball anywhere and hit at anyspeed and spin. the Viscaria however has a higher throw and less dwell time so it feels like the ball is bouncing off the racket as soon as it touch, i felt that the backhand side was more controlable and solid where my strokes where more compact. however on my forehand loop the ball tends to go long if i dont apply enough spin.
i think this blade is unnecessary for players lower then 1600-1700.
my setup was DHS HG3 FH , xiom VEGA pro BH
so if i was to use faster rubber i think the reaction would have been worst

It took a bit of time to get adjusted to the handle because my previous blades had what seem to be rounder handles. After the adjustment was made I can tell you that it is the best blade I've used so far.

It is not Necessary until you reach 2000+points because you won't get the full control .dont get confused because people write good control most of the players are armature players with pro equipment go for an all wood that is similar
Update 1.11.14
I know wet back to viscaria because my infinity vps v broke so I decided to pick a new viscaria up at the World Cup and I bought a 81 gramms one.I had one that was 90 gramms but it didn't have good control so I thought I should get a lighter one so for non international you should look for one under 85 gramms

If you are considering a faster blade,
STOP.

This blade is probably a better choice, unless you are a 2000+ US player.
Even 2000+ players like to use this.

After spending over $1000 on paddles, i'm happy to say that i have finally found my last.

This blade, although not VERY fast, makes up for lack of speed with not only great control but also spin.

Previously, i had thought faster blades were better. Never have i been more wrong. Previously, i was winning points just by smashing it too fast for the opponent. Now, i win by good placement and overwhelming spin.

My set up on forehand as a two wing shakehander is DHS Hurricane 3 NEO. This rubber, with the huge amount of gear, forces me to use proper technique. It has made me a better player. I tend to play very aggresive on forehand and make up for viscaria's lack of speed with technique and arm power. However, at the same time, i can step back and chop with this rubber: the blade and the gear of the DHS rubber generates both the good placement and great spin for a defensive chop. On other offensive rubbers, this usually isn't possible, as it just catapults off. As for backhand, i play a drive and rely on placement to win points. Here, TENERGY 64 helps me keep solid pace and viscaria helps keep it controlled and placed well. If i had used the 1.9mm thickness for the viscaria, i would be able to chop as well. Unfortunately, the T64 2.1mm does not chop well at all, catapulting the ball everywhere. Tenergy also has less gears.

Overall, this set up bests most of the fastest paddles out there, because of how it makes up for it in extreme control. It's like i can't miss!

It has a much softer feel than most carbon blades, and it has a lot of flex. The handle needed a lot of sanding because it made me blister the second day. Mine was 83 grams, and most of the weight went to the head of the bat but it felt very light compared to other blades. A lot of people have said that the handle is very wide for them, but it didn't bother me. I have small hands so I hold the bat high up on the handle so maybe it is shorter there and so maybe I'm not the right person to talk to about that. The handle does seem very flared.

BH blocks have so much more power. With this, the blocks go back at about the same speed as my old all wood, but they are so much more controlled. Thus, it's 300 times easier to punch block the ball, and the ball goes very fast with a little flick in the wrist or a loop. It is much easier to be aggressive.

The short game takes some time to get used to. The ball goes farther and more powerfully making touches harder. Flicks need adjusting. I feel like I have to open my bat a lot more on the more passive flicks. But when I want to make it fast it'll help me more. When I push I have a ton of control. Although my setup is sensitive to spin, I still feel like on a push I have forever to figure out where to place it.

Serves are great. I can generate tons of spin and keep the ball very short. I can loop very consistently and quickly. Tons of improvement on the backhand. Counter looping short and mid distance is incredible. You will have high throw rallies and then BAM a low winner down the line. Looping long underspin is SOO much easier than the allwood. I have a much higher margin of error.

Overall incredible control for a carbon while gaining power. With just a punch you can get a ton of power. Requires more spin and effort on flicks and slightly different technique on close to table loops but counter looping is incredible. Great for service. Has a ton of feel and a lot of control so that I can place the ball anywhere.

Good blade! Very good to CONTROL and very fast! :D
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Hard to describe it in just few words ... simply amazing. Great feeling and control, quite fast but is a topspin machine due to its longer dwell time, very well balanced (mine is 84g). Almost impossible to go wrong with Viscaria. Top notch blade, no doubt
Update: 08.07.2014 I don't know why such a controlable blade is rated 8.1 for control? If Timo Boll ZLF is rated 9.2 Viscaria should be rated at least 9.0 or even 9.2 (depending on the particularities of each blade, weight, etc). These two blades (TB ZLF and Viscaria) have almost the same control but Viscaria is faster and has, by far, a much better feeling. Great blade.
Note: I discovered that one user Malong1999 rated tihs blade 4.7 for control even if he says " Very good blade" (see above). A rating of 4.7 for Viscaria's control must be an error (I assume it wasn't because the ratings were to high as this rating it's among the first ratings). That's the cause why Viscaria has just 8.1 rating for control. Most players rated Viscaria around 9.0 for control. This is more realistic.

Great blade, good speed, awesome control, but not as maneuverable.
Mine is about 5 yrs old, the only downside to it is its weight at 103 gr.
That's 13 gr. over the disclosed stock weight!
With H3 Neo FH and Skyline Neo 3 BH, total weight tops at 193 gr!
I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this kind of a descrepancy with Viscaria.
I contacted Butterfly and they said that the older ones were heavier like that.... I'm not buying it!
It's manufacturer difect.

Pros, feeling of crisp on every power shot but with lots of control. compare to Sardius and Gergely it has a lot of feel. A very good blade to keep for developing or from transition.
Cons, a bit heavy when paired with tenergy and tenzone. Heavy head.

It is nice, but imo Innerforce ZLF is better:

about the same speed
longer dwell time
lighter

However, the viscaria is worth a try. It is a pity that butterfly doesnt produce more of them; they are always "out of stock".

This is the definitely the best blade i ever played with. It offers remarkable control going along with really good speed. Exetremly nice dwell time. Only problem is that they are not that easy to find nowadys (many fakes!!!) and in my opinion they are best somewhere between 88 and 90 gramm which is again not that easy to find... But if you have got one its amazing. Great fun to play with ,)

This is a Legendary blade that many champions used (Timo Boll, Zhang Jike, Dimitrij Ovtcharov), and using now (Fan Zhendong, Chinese National Team top players). This is also a Prototype of many arylate carbon blades (Timo boll spirit, Zhang Jike, Lin Gao Yuan, Marcos Freitas). This is because it is an average blade which could customized playing style by using different kinds of rubber, mostly recommended with T05+Hurricane 3(T05 Hard) or D05+D09C rubber.
However, due to its popularity, the quality of the blade is gradually going downwards, so I prefer Viscaria lovers to search for blades with code between "G" and "P", which ensure the blade is stiff and powerful enough to have nowadays close table continous backhand and mid-table forehand looping battle.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Its a very good blade for looping and re-looping. A little fast and have little less control (not less enough) than TBS but something have to be compromised speed or control :). Overall very good blade. I am using with Rakza 7 on both sides and will now switch to Hurricane 3 Neo on FH. If you need lot of control go for TBS but if you have control in your hand and need lot of spin and speed, this is the product you have to look into. It has a very good feel and less vibration. When ball touch your racket you actually feel where you are dragging it.
An awesome blade.

Fantastic blade! Used to use a Kong Linghui blade (the allwood one- which is excellent btw) but felt i needed slightly more speed. Viscaria is significantly faster, and has great feeling. Mid distance play is a breeze and you can really feel the power from the blade. Been using it with good old Sriver EL and it can do everything. There's really no need to go for a faster blade as Viscaria already packs a serious punch (and the fact that pro players rarely use very fast blades is proof that even the Viscaria should be too fast for us mere mortals...but I still love it!).

I like this blade better with low dwell rubbers like bryce. It is a good quality blade but I prefer the tbs. tb alc, and maze over it because they are all more firm for driving and smashing and still have plenty of dwell for looping.

he butterfly viscaria is a lightweight blade, the best part of this blade is the control, that is really outstanding, the speed is good for allrounders to attackers if you put on fast rubbers it is fast enough, hitting and spinning with the visacaria works very well, and so is blocking
In compare to the timo boll spirit the viscaria is slightly faster and has a little less control but they are very similar but the viscaria has a softer feel, they are both good blades from butterfly, go for viscaria if you like a soft and touch feel
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Feels great with hard or medium hard rubbers. Feels soft but not mushy. Is a looping blade. On the heavy side, hard to find a Viscaria less than 95 grams. Comfortable handle, like a stiga flared master except a little flatter.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Butterfly Viscaria is a pretty good offensive blade with solid speed and control, but not spectacular of any. The blade is extremely light, which is the most noticeable characteristic. Its very thin as well, so you get this kind of feathery feeling. Thus, it is not easy to get momentum with it, but you can still make some pretty fast and powerful shots.

The speed and control combination is pretty even. Using butterfly's arylate carbon, it makes up for the blades lightness to make fast shots, but the thinness also makes it have pretty good control. It feels very nice in your hand, and it does not strain your wrist. I say its pretty good blade, but kind of expensive for its low speed.
