I usually think of LP as grippy or low friction, but there are also hard LP and softer LP. Generally soft LP are grippy and harder LP are lower friction and maybe hit a little better. This is a hard LP that plays a good all around game. There are grippy pips that chop better and some harder pips that hit better, but GXL seems to do a good job in all aspects. Never had pips break, but I usually don't have it with any LP. The price is fantastic with availability in the USA for 11 dollars with sponge and 9 USD in OX. The sponge is not dampening like some newer ones, but it is not springy either. I am generally pretty agnostic about LP-I think with training they are more similar than people realize. This is a decent do it all at a great price.

The GXL is a medium-low grip long pips, and feels very similar to the CTT Pogo and Palio CK531A. Passive blocking results in a no spin float with very little wobble. Chop blocks stay low, and there's just enough grip to attack with this rubber if you feel inclined to do so. Chopping off the table doesn't produce much spin on its own, but produces significant backspin against spinney loops. Where the rubber shines is its spin insensitivity, it's easy to swipe under the ball and produce no spin against pushes, while still being able to make pretty quick bumps. Overall I liked this rubber a lot more than I thought I would, and it is a fantastic rubber for newer players.
