Reviews of Butterfly Orthodox DX - OX (5)

a truly excellent orthodox rubber. a lot spinier than expected. also, it appears to be quite durable. works exceptionally well with the toni hold blade as a hardbat. maybe, because it is soft and provides long ball contacts. the ability to top spin with it is really welcome.

This is a good hardbat rubber. It is extremely slow without much spin. This is by design. It is meant for hardbat tournaments where sponge rubber is not allowed. This type of rubber cannot be used to hit very hard or very soft because you will lose control since there is very little dwell time: the ball bounces off quickly because there is no sponge to absorb the impact. It is best to use this with a defensive blade to get more dwell time. It is borderline impossible to win against a similar level player who uses inverted rubber because having more speed and spin is an advantage, but against another hardbat player it can be a lot of fun. And for once Butterfly is not charging an arm and a leg for it. Loop is certainly possible, but don't expect it to carry much spin. It will have a low trajectory.

Best OX pips. Slightly better spin than Yasaka A-1-2. High quality OX for hardbat. Works great on old Hock blades, BTY DEF X, Donic Cayman. Donic Senso DEF.

My favorite hardbat rubber. Best paired up with a thin, large, soft feeling all or def blade. I use it on a Butterfly Defense X and could keep the ball on the table all day. Also an excellent value-maybe the only piece of Butterfly equipment that is anymore.

Note: speed is given 0 as it's more blade dependable factor.

Generally speaking, this is one of the spinnest OX rubber available today. It is marketed as a chopper's rubber by butterfly and it really is great for that purpose. The chop is easy to control and very deceptive (spin variation from the chop) The spin value is very high is you use a flexible soft blade. It does NOT work well with hard/fast blade at all.
