Shorten you follow through as you make the shot.Find a ready position that covers the table and your best 3rd, 5th, 7th ball from serving. Hold your bat in a neutral position between forhand and backhand. Get on the balls of your feet.

But the best advice is to never give a ball up, this will educate your mind to go for everything and you will be amazed how quick you can be!
