Kevin, while your opening statement is correct, I would have to say that I disagree with the rest of your analysis. When you chop a backspin ball with most long pips you will typically send back a week underspin ball that can be readily attacked. The preferred response to a push or chop is to flip or hit the ball letting your opponents spin pass through which will give you enough topspin on your shot to keep your reply on the table. When using long pips the usual response to a loop is to chop. This will send back a very spinny underspin ball using your opponents spin against him. Dave |
