Doming is side-effect of gluing, if it didnt dome, it means the glue is not having that much effect....either the sponge is too hard/thick, or too full of glue already, or the glue aint great.

Sometimes, for example, if you put 4 layers of glue on, it will stay domed for hours, and wont stick to the blade, but it will flatten out after a day.
