well if ur backhands rusty then i suggest u take an offensive stance(stand more on the backhand corner with ur dominant foot behind the other),if the serves are too fast to not have enough time to lower the racket,then u can do one of 2 things,either back up from the table to get more to lower the racket(though u need to acquire more speed for this attack)and drive forward normally.Or u can just stay in the same position and acquire more "snap" and throw a more verticle backhand.The snap is where all top players get their speed,power and consistancy from so make use of that.Another thing u might wanna try is catch them off gaurd by skip stepping off to the side and then forehand attack the ball which works every now and then,though it is risky because if they return that attack then u gotta run or be ready for the next ball.
