There are a lot of factors as to how many times you can glue. Personally I glue a lot. Every 4th or so I rub the glue off with the aid of ronsonol lighter fluid.

The glue effect only lasts strong 4 hours or so. There's a residual effect that lasts 24 or so. I do know folks who glue every couple of weeks just to wake up the sponge. But you don't really get a glue effect. Just keep the cells expanded.

You can continue to work off the buildup until the sponge gets too soft for your tastes, or until the topsheet is too slick for your tastes.
