I am relatively new to the sport and recently, I have been trying to learn the forehand pendulum serve. In both the strokes section at this site and in Larry Hodges "Table Tennis: Steps To Success," the serve seems to use a motion in which the racket face is always open. I do not understand how to generate topspin with an open racket face. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
