The following message (subject: glueing question) was posted by db, on 12/1/2005 2:06:02 PM:
Conundrum:

A) There's a common perception that "the pros" use their rubbers only a few times and then discard them, so that they are pretty much using new rubbers all the time.

B) Another common perception is that most rubbers meant for speed glueing are not at their best until they've been glued several times, perhaps as many as five or six times.

So what do the pros really do? Do they take a fresh set of rubbers, apply glue five times, and then use them for a few hours? Or do they use some special solvent which replicates the effect of a bunch of glueings, then glue and use the rubber a few times. Or is it just a myth that they discard the rubber after only a few sessions?

Please relieve my confusion.
