Hi GregPP, The short answer in my opinion is yes. The defensive blades have a large head, which means its easier to block and chop. They also have a lot of control. A lot of the defensive blades that are out on the market also have attacking capabilities, which not only allows you block and chop, but also allows you to loop and smash.

I am not sure that Fabian uses the Donic Def play, I just read it some where. The Donic Def play is a very good blade. It is very light, has a nice large stream line head and is good for looping on the forehand side. Another good blade is the Joola Tactics although a little heavy for my liking. Most modern defensive blades that are on the market would be a fit. Thanks, Ben
