I find this point to be rather petty and even prejudicial. Further, the fact that I incorrectly spelled the word "tournament" has nothing to do with the issue at hand, does it? As a matter of fact, such can be viewed more as a personal attack moreso than any kind of salient point germane to the topic at hand.

Hawk eyed

I cannot accept that the misuse of language is petty , as we are attempting to communicate with each other using words , then the words have to be correct , or we may as well be talking complete gibberish. As for prejudicial , prejudiced against what exactly ?

Donald

Now, why do you suppose the play from the elite was far superior in the 2002 tapes when compared to the play of the elite players in 2001? And why do you suppose the level of play in the 2001 tapes was far inferior to the play contained in any of the myriad of tapes I have which date back to the early 1990's? Now, what was different in 2001 than in the 1990's? It featured many of the exact same players making the exact same strokes they utilized before, yet, there was this huge problem in 2001. What could that possibly be, Hawk eyed? Is it any wonder the play improved in the 2002 tapes when the players had over one year to play with the new ball? Still, though, the problem was existent in Zagreb - just not nearly to the extent as in Italy, 2001.

I think that you are becoming a little inebriated in the exuberance of your own verbosity here . Are you trying to say that there was a problem and that it is now resolved ? I'm sorry but I simply cannot believe that the worlds top table tennis players ever experienced the kind of slack jawed disbelief which you describe as being a normal reaction to hitting a shot off the table , for whatever reason. As a table tennis player yourself , you must understand that there are numerous reasons why you miss the table , you even describe some of them yourself " poor positioning , poor shot selection " being just two , you could just as easily have added , poor speed of reaction , poor foot work , need I go on ? We are talking about professional table tennis players , who may well be practising five, six , seven hours a day ( as the Chinese do ) for six days a week . We are talking about prodigious talent , spotted early and nurtured from then on . Are you seriously suggesting that players such as these cannot accomodate a two millimeter change in ball size ?

Donald

So it's not me. Thanks. You just lost the point. Of course, your remark could very well be laden with sarcasm which, if such is the case, would be more a negative reflection upon you than ought else.

Hawk eyed

Ought ? Ought ? Do you mean aught ? Buy a dictionary .

Donald

You are certainly free to question my ability to define my own mistakes but don't be surprised if I do not accept you defining them for me especially when you are in complete ignorance with regards to my technique nor have you viewed the tapes where I made some observations.

Hawk eyed

I have absolutely no wish to belittle or question your ability or technique , God knows my own is slight enough , but what I will question is your own ability to find an " epedemic " problem in table tennis where no such problem exists now , or ever has.

As you Americans say , " Have a nice day. "
