for a topspin return,just make sure that you hit the ball before high points so that you borrow speed from the opponents speed,supposably hitting it off the bounce,and make sure to turn that forearm while your shooting.and yes you should be stroking upwards,but only abit,with pips you never hit straight or downwards,thats what gives us the net balls,and try to keep control of the game with an offensive style!!
