A lot of people tend to prefer softer sponge rubbers on the backhand for touch shots and openings I guess. I suppose weight is also an issue. Linear is a term we use over at about.com forum to desribe how a rubber behaves. Some rubbers that have a soft sponge and get their speed from tension will seem to ADD a lot of speed in the short game. Makes it hard to do a short push or drop shot. Seems like you get more out of it than you put into it. If it seems to be geared consistently through the range of shots we refer to it as linear. MP is one of the fastest rubbers that DOESN'T feel overly springy on touch shots. Hope that helps. |
