Kevin had some reasonable advice, as did Tim. In general, it sounds like you'd do well to get a relatively thin sponge. This will give you more control at the expense of a little speed. I'd probably disregard Desto Lover - F1 is VERY fast. It isn't the absolute last rubber I'd recommend for a control player/chopper, but is darn close. Even in 1.8 thickness it is still very fast and bouncy. Donic Copa Tenero in 1.8 should be a fine choice. 729 Geospin or Cream/Jap in 2.0 would also be worth looking at. Another excellent choice would be Juic Hirubia in 1.5mm or yasaka Mark V in 1.5mm (it is also available in 1.8 and 1.0!). I don't chop, but most that do prefer less-bouncy rubbers, and generally not-overly-fast ones. The Tenero gets bouncy and fast when speed glued, but is very controllable when fix-glued. The Geospin plays best on fairly stiff blades. The Tenero and Cream play pretty steadily on pretty much everything I've tried them on... bes |
