A 50/50 mixture won't expand the rubber that much, but if you are concerned your rubber shrinking, take the time to put a 3-4 thin layers of the mixture on the rubber over a few days, letting it dry in between coats. Then wait a few hours or overnight before putting the rubber on the blade.
