He should check with any local woodworking supply places - there are some on the net too. Most of these places will sell a wide variety of veneers. The trick, or problem will be to get the correct thickness. Thick veneers are pretty hard to find. If he has access to decent thickness sander (drum or belt should be fine), he can make his own. With a little practice (and a good 1/2" or wider, 3 or 4 tpi hook tooth blade) it isn't too hard to resaw fairly thin veneers with a bandsaw. They will definitely need to be thickness sanded though.
