You said you are "improving your game". Unless you are already pretty salty -- and very attack oriented -- you should probably shy away from a carbon blade.

I don't know what you are currently using rubber-wise, but both the 999s you mentioned are similar, sticky, and fairly heavy. I like sticky rubbers pretty well on my forehand, but don't do as well with them on my BH.

If you are not already a good player, give some thought to a more moderate blade. You may want to consider a less sticky, more forgiving rubber -- at least for your backhand.
