| For chopping, long pips don't necessarily create more spin but they do help manage incoming spin. Chopping against a heavy loop with inverted requires a very fast stroke to prevent the chop from popping up. With pips, you can make a much more relaxed stroke that lends more towards controlling the spin and away from dealing with it. |
