It sounds like you need to work on a more relaxed grip - regardless of the handle.

It is possible that you would be less tempted to squeeze an anatomic or flared handle, but I wouldn't count on it.

Try gripping the blade at the very top of the handle - with the inside of your thumb resting along the handle bevel and your index finger extended across the bottom of the backhand rubber. This results in a very secure, neutral grip. Some folks like a more forehand or backhand oriented grip, so adjustments may be needed.

Gripping too tight is a very bad habit - it is almost impossible to develop fluid strokes with a death-grip. Also, a tight grip will basically freeze the wrist and forearm, which will make it very tough to loop - virtually impossible on the backhand.
