do u really want to play japanese style? i do hope u realise that as a japanese penholder, ur biggest weakness will be ur backhand. i'm a penholder using the chinese grip and i play on both surfaces- forehand and backhand. if you consider that the world's no 1 player, Ma lin, uses a chinese penholder grip, u understand why it's better to be a chinese penholder these days. i also have a good block also but i don't focus too much on it. Attack is the best way to win a match. I completely changed my system of play- from defensive to offensive. it will take time and effort to adapt to a new style of play but it's worth it.
