Let me also add that gluing (not necessarily re-gluing) with 7 day speed glue is also helpful. Volatile speed glue is not all that helpful at my level; however, I do use the 7 day stuff on some rubbers and leave the rubber on. On FX-EL, the effect is amazing. One sheet grew by more than 1/4 inch. I put three coats of Tibhar rapid deluxe on the rubber, attached it to the blade and never reglued. The mild permanent effect after a week was actually just what I liked.

My shakehand playing partner likes the unglued FX-EL side as well. When I first tried this rubber I was used to the 729 Cream and I hated it, but once you get used to imparting spin with the ball sinking deeply into the grippy rubber rather than brushing lightly across a sticky surface, it is fun.
