| At least at my level(not great), I'd strongly disagree. I probably win more points outright with short topspin serves than any other. The ratio is significantly greater when you count the kills off pop ups or weak flips. I don't have a great short topspin serve, but seem to have decent deception (or just luck). I don't get away with this (or anything else really) nearly so much playing 1700 or higher players. It seems fairly effective against most of the 1650ish players, and really bothers most of the under 1500 crowd. I suspect, that with a better serve (more spin, lower, shorter) and more deception, it would work even at much higher levels. bes |
