It is a wonderful blade.
A light and superbly consistent blade that many people would play better TT by using.
It is not too fast.
It has all the speed you need without the loss of control or feel.
It is a fast blade- Butterfly's Primorac or Optimum Sync plus a bit. However it doesn't lose control at all.
( Far too much emphasis is put on Carbon and very fast blades.)
I know a man who played in Germany in the professional league and he never used a blade faster than a Stiga Allround or Donic Allround .
One must be learn to crawl before they can walk.
10/10 for the Violin.

Excellent OFF-/OFF blade. Works great with hard sponge.

Violin is a very unique blade. It is not very fast; it can not create super spin, but it can do one thing: it can let you win matches that you have never imaged that you can win. The control and placement that Violin offers is un-matchable. When you are playing against a player who is a level higher than you, Violin helps you return hard balls and kill when needed. So Violin is a blade without looking fancy, but let you win battles. For amateurs, this blade is honestly better than those $400 super blades. Will you like it as much as me?
My rubbers: fh, Joola black Rhyzm-P, bh, tenergy 64

I have recently bought a Nittaku Violin with the large handle. I have to say, I did not expect such a massive improvement in my game. I used to play with a Butterfly Timo Boll Forte blade with Tibhar FX-S 2.0 on the forehand and Tibhar Aurus 1.9 on the backhand. I kept the same rubbers on the Nittaku aside for the thickness in the backhand, I reduced that to 1.7 just to try it out. Spins and smashes are now on the table instead of over the table. Pushing is more predictable. I now also dare to flip with the backhand which brings a welcome variation in my game. My previous bat clearly was way too fast for my skill, the Violin is slower and I have the impression it also generates a bit less spin when I am really going for it. The fact that it is slower, allows to apply somewhat more movement in my serves. So the 'lack' of spin will probably be compensated by a more confident strike of the ball over the next couple of weeks. When you are someone (like me) who tends to play topspins a bit too hard, this bat is clearly for you. It seems to 'cap' the speed and energy you can transmit to the ball.
Expensive, but recommended.

I bought it because Ma Long used it in 2005 and the great reputation behind it. Having many other blades 7plys and various Carbon woods I decided to start from square one again to develop my strokes using a slightly slower blade. The Violin definatly helps in learning to develop your strokes and now I understand after buying a few blades why one may want to consider learning the art of the sport with a 5ply first which in short avoids loads of unnecessary frustration. All in all 10 out of 10 blade.

Despite its reputation and price, it's a pretty mediocre racket. It's also relatively slow. Nittaku also has a number of much better rackets, even in clear woods.

I've been a FL backhand dominant player and since ever I've been introduced to the sport, been playing with Chinese or Sweden made paddles, out of which I've liked the Chinese the better as the FL handle fits best in my small hand contour. Recently, I bought used old tag Nittaku Violin out of curiosity for an allwood blade. I've seen players complaining about the handle size too small but the one that I bought, fits perfectly in my hand and being said, this is my first Straight handle blade. Paired it with Victas 401 on FH, Tibhar ELP on BH. Noticed that slight adjustment was needed on Forehand strokes due to the ST handle, but it was no brainer on Backhand, it was so effortless and very spinny. IMO, this blade favors the feel factor in linear spin strokes and offers medium trajectory with controlled arc. Flat hits are also good. Comparing it with DHS H301 blade, with ALC construction that I used for almost 2 years consistently, interesting that I felt Nittaku Violin is a notch harder and slightly more stiff (could be due to the blade being less head heavy and small handle to compensate on the flex). Also if you get the right weight ~ between 85-90G, It doesn't feel slow even in the modern plastic ball era.

I like it with xiom sigma II pro on FH and Yasaka Rakza 7 on BH. A lot of spin and control on BH. Good power on FH with aceptable control. Very good feel.

Very interesting blade. I'm still a beginner, yet i wanted to try something more offencive than Stiga AC. I use it with 729 Origin (hard tacky chinese rubber) on the FH and Stiga Genesis M on BH. At first it felt quite stiff, but after the first couple of weeks, it became more and more flexible, the feeling changed and now I love it. It does everything well, looping quality is amazing.

This has to be the best 5 ply all wood blade out there for the player who looks to loop first. Paired with Tenergy 05, this setup spins the ball at your mercy. Blocking loops gives the feeling that you are in control. Step back to counter loop and watch the ball throw high over the net and dip near the baseline. Drive the ball down the sideline to end the point. My swings are big and my game relies on heavy spin and placement, I feel like I can place the ball anywhere with this blade and get my opponent's attacks back onto the table. This blade is still a viable option in the new 40+ ball Era.

The Nittaku Violin is an extremely high quality 5 Ply blade that I would rate in the All+/Off- category. An amazing blade for developing players, it has great feel and control. It's Ply composition is fairly unique with the blade feeling harder yet very flexible compared to your standard Limba 5 Ply wood. It's great for looping and close to the table play. Not quite as fast or good at blocking as the Acoustic but the control and feel is the best. As a new player to the sport of table tennis I used this and the Yasaka Sweden Extra as my main blades along with Mark V rubbers. A very high quality All Around wood blade by Nittaku. Recommended.

My previous experience with pure wood blade was BTY petr korbel, but I didn't like it, so I had the impression that pure wood blade is not my type. After I tried violin for the first time, I was kind of surprised - the flex of the wood let me feel it is superior to all my carbon blades. Looping, chopping and serving are all exceptional. Low arc but very accurate. Since it is very thin (5.4mm), when you hit hard over certain amount of strength, it will not accelerate further - this is the only drawback. Rubbers used are Tuttle golden LV FH, Sanwei A+ tacky BH. Despite of my rubbers are cheap heavy hard ones, it performs very well, really a pleasure to play with. Update: after several sessions, I found that it's hard to find perfect rubbers for this blade, especially the forehand. It's too soft and flexible, might not suitable for the new 40+ balls. But not bad for training.

really good blade. not good for full spin game. better for smashing. also good for loop, block and control. good "off" blade, just nittaku quality

The Nittaku Violin Large handle is perfect for me.

Good loops, the smash is excelent and the short game. Blade is Off- and any rubber will suit it

Thanks Lord i'm a proud owner of this wonder. Be aware some people may not like it, but for the others ... I mean you have to test it before buying it. Mine is 73 gr. and you can see it's irregular - not very fast, but the control is beyond comparison with the other blades if your game is controlled offensive. Somebody up there loves me :). I will never sell it for any price.

This blade is simply stunning! It almost feels like part of your hand when you use it! I've tried several rubbers to see which ones go best with it and have settled on Xiom Vega Elite max on the forehand and Friendship Geospin Tacky max on the reverse. However the Geospin works great as a f/h as well. I play an alround attacking game and this bat loops, blocks and counter hits with ease. I've had to prise it away from other players at my club as they wanted to keep it! Worked great with Friendship 802 short pips on b/h as well. Great for blocking and driving. Looping with the short pips was hard work for me though not impossible. But this is supposed to make things easier right? So I'm back to the Geospin. Found Tenergy 80 didn't suit me or the blade (one or the other anyway!) But other people who tried it while it was on the Violin liked it so guess it was me! Don't be fooled into thinking this is a slow blade just because its all wood. You put max Tensor style rubbers on this and it comes alive; too lively for me with the Tenergy 80! But any blade can be tamed with the correct rubber for the playing style. I can only compare it to the other blades I've tried recently and in the past. Butterfly Viscaria owned by another player at the club: very heavy but nice to use. Not as fast as I expected. 1976 Butterfly Surbek Hinoki. I thought this was a fast blade when I was 17 but it feels a bit slow these days. The Sriver still works fine and plenty sticky too! Two Stiga A/R woods. One from 1975 the other a modern version. Slow in comparison to the violin but play ok. Ok so the Violin is expensive, but if I lost it I'd buy another immediately!

Spin superb, but block it's not easy. Blade too elastic, needs to pair the rubbers medium-hard

ok this blade is the DREAM blade. perfect for looping with precision. Using Tenergy 64 both sides with this blade. in terms of speed, it's not as fast as the carbon blades but you do not need the carbon blades if you are using Tenergy anyway. superb control and great feeling and feedback from the blade. i prefer this blade over TBS, Kong LH Special, MM and Viscaria.

Great feel for the ball. But because it is so flexy and not very hard, you need hard rubbers to get the most out of the short game. It loops very well, effortless. The wood grain is so beautiful you may not want to put rubbers on it!

Flexible blade with high feeling. Violin is a OFF-, great for all around aggressive players. IMHO needs pretty hard rubbers like Tenergy or Spinart. Price is expensive, but quality is very high.

This is my 2nd blade after buying viscaria as my first blade. the idea to build 2nd blade for another variation using longpips. it works well but when i tried to combine using FH-Goldarc8 and BH Fastarc-G1, absolutely amazing.
this blade give more tolerance for the stroke and the maximum control for the direction.
one of my colleague also own this blade but older version, she combine with T 80 FX and T 05, the result are amazing.
the speed is slower than viscaria (since violin is allwood) but the result is delightful and reduce my mistake during the gameplay. Using this blade for ball positioning is very convenient and it will provide difficulty for the opponent.

Build quality is as expected top notch.
Comparing with nittaku acoustic and barwell, with same rubber and same blade weight 88g.
Speed: Barwell >acoustic >violin#
Control: acoustic >violin >barwell #
Flex : acoustic >violin >barwell #
Blocking: barwell >acoustic >violin #
Agressive topspin: acoustic >barwell >violin #
Arc: acoustic >violin >barwell (all similar)#
Best overall performance : Acoustic >barwell >violin down by couple of notch. #

Acoustic and barwell are very close on performance and play, has medium feel and feel very alive on all strokes dwell and superior catch is a instant feel when playing Agressive. Violin is not the same, it is slower by couple of notch the feel is soft and is less Agressive than other two. It's for all round play with high spin. Still highly recommended .

This is my third blade and to be honest, I'm a bit disappointed. The quality is top notch - no doubt about it, but the racket is pretty slow. I switched from a Primorac (classic 15 years old hungarian made blade from a very nice batch of wood) and the Violine is slower. You can tell immediately - I tested the two blades with exact same rubber - Yasaka Rakza 7 and the bounce was higher and faster on the Primorac. Also it is stiffer and harder. In my opinion Violin must be labeled ALL+ or even ALL, not OFF-. That being said, the blade is very consistent and the control is awesome. I'm disappointed because the Primorac is a better blade (for me) and it costs trice as cheap. Maybe I've come across a good batch with the Primorac or something but that's the reality of it. Nittaku Violine is a very well made blade with awesome control but it is overpriced, hyped and slow.
