I hated this blade with 2mm sponge, but have learned to love it with 1.5mm sponge. Offense doesn't seem to be a problem and it generates reasonable speed. With good control, the speed is sufficient. Blocks well.

Nice allround+ blade. Donic market this as a "control" blade, but I still found it on the faster side of allround, especially for an all-wood.

The handle is the big selling point. It feels really comfortable for me, and actually helps my forehand technique a bit with wrist position. I did find it a bit tricky on the backhand side, and had to adjust a bit because I felt a bit cramped up in some way.

The Dotec blades are worth a go just to try out the feel of the handle, which is great. Probably best to try one out before you buy if you can - it's a personal thing.

I have always had a problem with having a different grip for my backhand and forehand for years. I put this baby into my hand a couple months ago and it was AMAZING to say the least. I have also always played with very fast blades since I started out. I started with a Waldner butterfly carbon blade back in the day. So changing to this control blade made my shots amazing. I had crazy control and could counter much easier. Quick loops were simply amazing. Coupled this blade with joola energy xtra and hurricane 3 on the front. Its a nice feel....

This took a good amount of adjusting for me, but I ended up liking the blade very much. It can hit fairly consistently if you are able to read spins and react fairly well, for blocking it is also decent (not quite good enough where you can be lazy on every shot), but looping is where I think it stands out the most.

Ive played with this blade for about 8 months. The name says it all "Control", Day one started an onslaught of well placed and just jaw dropping shots. Finesse and control shots were amazingly easy to produce at anytime. I was sketchy about the handle at first but with time(maybe a week) I realized how great of an idea it was to make. Easy to maintain a steady grip and you cant feel your fingers digging into the edge of the wood like other conventional types. This blade is not fast at all though, I relied on speedy rubbers and very strong powerful swings (almost to much at times). Once my shots became solid, I noticed that I was still needing more speed and decided its time for me to step up to a faster one, Dotec Carbokev is my next choice. Ill let you know how it is.

Decent allaround blade. The first one had a dead feeling backhand side (broken veneer?), second was OK. I've heard of others having the same problem. Great feel, good close-in blade, not too good away from the table. Good for quick attack and slow loops. Good serve return control. There are a lot of other better blades. Unique handle shape may require slightly different stroke especially for backhand.

Very nice all around blade, very light with a good touch. Pretty lively but with consistent control. The handle takes a while to get used to. Make sure you don't choke up on it. Beyond that, a great blade for someone who loops and spins with the versatility of a short game and possibility for fast kills.

The donic appelgren dotec control blade is an extremely unique blade. especially the handle is. the handle is uniquely shaped, and it actually feels much more comfortable than other handles. The cork also gives you very good control and feel for the ball. The blade has weird physical characteristics. It is extremely light. It is around 70 grams. But the outer plies are really hard actually. The core is balsa and cork or somethin like that. So you get a very light weight, very elastic feeling blade that has very good control, but stil pretty good speed. This blade is probably too slow for players that are extreme loopers. this blade is more for players who like to use control.
