I have been on a long search for a blade JUST like this!! A blade that is you can go with further, and up your game. Now I know that some pain associated with getting good blades, and good rubber, doesn't exactly mean you get good results!
I came from Clipper with Hurricane long time ago (it was long time ago, but I remember the rubber was heavy for me, and my skills were different too, so I ditched it).
My main setup was, up until now, Xiom Zetro Quad with Xiom Vega Europe >now with Vega Pro.
Zetro is a fantastic blade and a good combo, but I great difficulties with ball landing where it's supposed to be while top-spinning away from the table. I even started to think I should have taken classes just to fix my skill.
After 2 games with Fextra, I was stunned. Turned out I had the skill, it was just a combo that doesn't match my style.
I had a pair of Palio HK1997 BH, and CJ8000 on my N-9 blade (which was amazing, except for top-spin based game). I got Fextra to be a backup for Zetro/Vega Pro combo. Now with Palio rubbers is my main setup.
Here I shortly what makes it a winner:
- the speed is just great, not too fast. somebody mentioned that it responds to the skill and speed of the player, i can totally see that too
- it's very spinny
- the control is fantastic (almost as good as N-9 (the king of control imho :)
- it gives confidence to my game (i am usually off- attacker)
- on top of this it's excellent in defense (both close and far)
- with this combo my spin became really evil, and some serves are harder to "get"
- i was able to up my game immediately, and compete better with my partners playing with Ma Long 3 blades, and Tenergies 5
- this blade gives me a amazing feeling that ANYTHING is possible
The only negative side of this blade was that mine was a bit heavy, FL at 90g. I ordered ST, too, that came at 85g. That's slightly better!
The 2nd will hold a pair of Vega Pro. I'll report back on that combo, but I expect it to be at least as good as Fextra/Palio combo.
