Violin Carbon is the newest addition to Nittaku's string instrument series. In terms of speed, it's an OFF blade with medium hardness. The blade is on the lighter side. My flared handle blade is about 87g. Due to the 2 carbon layers, violin carbon is significantly more stiff than the original violin, even though the blade is very thin at only 5.3mm thickness. The added stiffness really helps with the blocking game. The control is also good considering how stiff and hard the blade is. I would say the control is about 8 out of 10. The FE carbon adds a lot of stability to the blade, but does not take away any feeling. The original violin was a bit too flexible for 40+ plastic balls and I feel a lot of unwanted vibrations when hitting hard. Violin carbon is much better. There is no longer bothersome vibrations on hard loops and smashes, but the blade still retains excellent feeling. In fact, I would go as far as saying that this blade has the best feelings of all the blades I've played with. If you want to loop consistently with violin carbon, I suggest rubbers around 45 degrees hardness. I use Hurricane 3-50 for forehand and Evolution EL-S for backhand. Both rubbers are rated 45 degrees hardness. H3-50 was perfect for my forehand, but EL-S was a bit too hard for my backhand. If your backhand is weaker than your forehand like me, then I suggest using a softer rubber. Overall, I would rate this blade a 9 out of 10, because I really appreciate its clear and sharp feeling. It's a real pleasure to play with.
