RITC 729 Dr. Evil Pips Out - OX
Important note: This review is for the Dr. Evil on a 1,5mm Lightning Sponge from Friendship. It is not for the regular version!

I bought this rubber for fun because I wanted to try pips for the first time. After ordering the version with the 1,5mm sponge (offered by a online shop as an official & exclusive Friendship product) and checking that it was a legit offer I received this and got it glued to an allround penhold blade (not my main blade, but the fun blade).
The pips are medium long and offer a little grip (it is the same rubber as the Friendship 804, an anti with a bit of grip) and are very resistant to incoming spin.

Overall this is a very pleasant combination for a first time pip player. The Dr. Evil is not a short but more like a medium pip with a clear focus on control. You can do every trick in the book of a pip player long or short to a degree and get descent results. Want so play a smash? Yes you can and the Lightning Sponge works nice. Want a long defense with a chop? Yes you can with very good placement. Want to go a bit "top spin"-style? You can with some effort.
The downside is speed and overall deception/reversal. The focus is clearly on control and placement while these parameters come second or third. It has some reversal and it has some deception (balls gets a nice "kick") still so you get the "pips feeling". For me this is not a bad thing but I guess more experienced pips players want a different rubber.
