Butterfly Apolonia ZLC
My inner equipment junky caused me to relapse recently. Consequently, I am the proud (and significantly poorer) owner of the new Freitas and Apolonia blades. Both blades are amazing in their own ways. I have Tenergy 80 (fh) and vega euro (bh) on both paddles. With rubbers, the Apolonia weighs a hefty 186 gms, while the Freitas comes in at 178 gms. The Apolonia feels like it weighs even more than 8 grams more than the Freitas. Yet, compared to my innerforce zlc, I swear the Apolonia is more linear and less bipolar
(i.e. it feels easier to tame to me)--even as it meets and perhaps exceeds the pace of the IF. Typically, I don't fall for blades that feel this hefty. So, I'm surprised by just how much I enjoy my Apolonia. It manages the trick of being both soft and crisp. Of offering both control and, when called upon, a dangerous kick. This blade is effective from any distance, and, like the Freitas, it emits an extremely gratifying "crack" when you crunch the ball correctly. Basically, this blade deserves is steep price
